Toxic Trauma Drama

Thanks fo the loving and supportive response.  I am excited about my surgery even with a few other naysayers in my life.  I can't wait.  I have been trying for years and nothing will stop me now.  I will not let my thoughts run to "if only I could have...."  I personally think I will do great.  I'm in the medical feild so I know all the risks, I have actually done post op studies on many WLS pt.s ( I'm in Radiology)  so I've seen many of the possble complications 1st hand.  Of all the people I have talked to over the years I have only had one person say they would not do it again in a heartbeat.  I just don't want anyone to try and make me feel like I'm getting something "less than" because if the RNY can help do for me what it's done for you and others then it will be a true gift from God!  I do not know what it's like to be "normal"  I was a roly poly kid and even weighed over 200 lbs in high school while on the varsity volleyball team. My waist has never been smaller than my hips my whole life, and it may not be after surgery, but I bet I will fit in the movie theatre seats and be able to wipe my butt without dislocating a shoulder!. HAHA!  It will be totally worth it!

And you have a wonderful sense of humor...that was funny!!

Sometimes it's hardest for the people that have never known what it's like to be normal because when they get there it can be sort of like a middle aged man going through male menopause.  Just be aware of keeping your head on your shoulders because many of us lose our heads for a bit in the first year.  I have a post on my blog about "moderation in all things" and if you'll just keep that in mind, you'll be just fine.  Like I said, respect and nurture your miracle surgery.  Don't participate in goal destructive behavior and don't take a single day for granted. Take pictures along the way and if you can journal, you can look back and see how awesome each day is.  So many of us tend to forget where we came from.  One of the things I do every morning is to remember that night right before surgery and say how grateful I am that I was delivered from my obese body.  Please keep me posted.
hugs, Y

Hi honey, long time no see! Can you please post this on the Cali board, there are some people there that really need to be reminded of why we are all here! I love OH and HATE to see the drama and the people that are hurt by it and in some cases, chased away from the support they need.
I'm just recovering from my hernia repair (finally), panni removal, and mons lift and am not at my house, but when I do return I would love to talk to you about the life coach issue.  I would love to be a WLS life coach and need to know how to go about making that happen.
Thanks for this GREAT post sweetie and please post it on the Cali board for me!  You are always such a positive and encouraging force here on OH!!!  I've gotten to enjoy seeing you at a couple of conventions, and it is always a treat. God bless you for the wonderful work you do!!!
with bigg huggs, Becky

Thank you for starting this thread it was badly needed.

Studies have proven that, people that interact and have support groups are significantly more successful than those that don't.

This drama brought a lot of posters that normally read more than post with uplifting things to say, for that I am glad and hope to see them express themselves more often.

I sometimes have a hard time balancing the need to ignore those threads with my pro-choice attitude but one thing I try hard to never forget that there are real people behind the avatars.

OK, I'm back Becky!  That's so exciting that you got the surgery done!!  Take care and get some rest OK?  When you get back, just let me know when you want to talk.  I'll be happy to share where I was certified and what you need to do.  I think you'd be great as a coach.  It was awesome to hear from you again.  I know you must be so happy about the surgery.

Hi Becky,

I love your avatar.  I wanted to respond to your question regarding coach training for yourself.  It is my passion and I love to see others interested in coach training.

I am a Certified Life Coach from the Institute of Life Coach Training, an ICF accredited program.  Congratulations on your interest and desire to become a life coach.  I'm excited for you!!

As an additional resource to you and to back up Yvonne's response, you can go to the ICF (the coaching equivalent of the ASMBS in bariatrics) website and find out the ICF accredited training programs.
www.coachfederation.org/
Make sure you go through a program that is accredited as there are many that aren't.

I hope this helps.

Cathy

I totally agree with you.

I am new here.

And I've been reading all this drama.

I don't understand why everyone is so pissed off.
