How long after surgery can you eat tomatoes?
Thanks!

There is a lot of variation in plans. Tomato soup would be a puréed food so probably not an issue if you have moved to soft but doesn?t have a lot of protein. My program had me on normal solid foods around 9 weeks, as tolerated, keeping in mind guidelines of protein first then vegetables or fruits.

Oh I see I'm not alone. here i went and planted a Beefsteak & Big Boy tomatoes this year. Icould just stand over the sink and have one for lunch- yummy. Also have zuchinni & yellow squash.
hmmm - tomatoes should be ripe here around end of august that gives me a month....post-op.
I hope i'll be able to handle it!
somewhere i have a recipe for homemade tomato soup- well that's another possiblity...
I understand how you feel. I was 2 months out and my Mom had all this fresh garden stuff for lunch. She had green beans, cabbage, new potatoes, sliced cucumbers and corn bread. At first I was thinking, "what, no protein"? I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I ate the cooked cabbage, green beans, cucumbers and yes, a tiny thumb sized potato (it was delicious). Later, I ate a protein bar to make up for the lack of protein in the meal. This is life and I need to deal. As for your question, I had tomatoes in my first week of solid food. It was wonderful but I've had no problems eating anything so far. I don't know if that's good or not. I have tried all meats now but not salad greens. Good luck and enjoy those delicious garden tomatoes!
My surgery is July 14th. Maybe by the time they are ready I can eat them. I see my surgeon on Wed for pre admitting testing. Going to ask her.
Good luck with your gardens.
