Try this website for a gazillion drink recipes:  http://bariatriceating.com/BEhealthnutrition/proteinshakes.p hp

Also, remember what Dana said and don't ever add protein powder straight into anything hot.  It will clump, just like trying to stir flour into ho****er.

Use a blender, Magic Bullet or a hand held immersion blender to mix your drinks and the clumpies will go away.

When blending protein drinks, you are only limited by your imagination!

PS  Try Chike.  It's pretty good, especially the Orange Dream blended with water, ice and mandarin oranges.  Almost like cheating.  LOL

I hated protein shakes, so I ate protein (about 6 snack sized meals a day). I really didn't struggle that much to get my protein in this way, as long as I mantained my schedule. A typical day for me would be for breakfast 1 egg with cheese, or greek yogurt.(10g protein) Snack would be 1/2 an atkins chocolate peanut butter fudge bar (about 10 g. protein) Lunch would be cottage cheese, tuna, or cold cuts with cheese. Snack would be the other half of my bar, dinner would be usually seafood (shrimp sits really well with me) and dessert is usually protein cake or protein ice cream (check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com) I could usually get it 60-70g protein a day this way. But as far as bars and shakes, it's totally subjective and you have to just try various different products to see what you like! Good luck!

Protein i**** or miss.  One person may love something and another may despise it.  Like the chike, tastes like heavy metal to me, but I know tons of others who swear by it!!  I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Syntrax Nectars.  They are not thick like most shakes.  I cannot do that thickness, uggh gross to me!

They come in fruti juice flavors and standbys like chocolate truffle, vanilla bean, strawberry mousse (have not tried this one) and cappucino.

The sample you can get from the manufacturer is a good deal.  I sent an email and got this message:

We have some ½ serving size samples of 3 flavors that we’d be happy to send

you.  I also have another offer which you might want to take advantage of.

We’re going to offer a one time coupon good for $21.89 off of the price of

11 “full size" packets of Nectar™ in a couple of weeks when we unveil our

new web site.  If you’re interested, we could advance this offer to you now.

The normal retail price on this will be $21.89.  Using the $16.90 online

coupon however brings the price down to $4.99 plus $5.00 shipping and

handling.  If you’re interested in trying all 11 flavors of Nectar™, it’s a

wonderful way to do so at less than $1.00 per serving.

If you’d like the 3 half serving sample packets, just send me another email

and we’ll send them out to you.  If you’d like the $16.90 coupon special of

all 11 flavors, please give us a call and we’ll manually enter your order.

Thanks for your email and for your interest!!

So for ten bucks you can get 11 full sized samples and it includes shipping.

Personally, I love the twisted cherry, cappucino, and some days I like the lemon tea - other days not so much.

I make them in a 20 blender bottle.  The cherry I do 1 scoop of protein,  10 oz water and 10 oz of SF kool-aid, fruit punch or rasberry ice crystal light.  If I do the to go pack I do 20 oz of water.  Add ice!

Cappucino I do 1 scoop of protein, 10 oz water, 5 oz skim milk plus, 5 oz soy milk, and 2-3 tsps instant decaf coffe and ice.

Lemon tea I do 2 scoops of protein, 20 oz water, 1/2 lipton iced tea 2go pack and ice.

I plan on buying the chocolate, fuzzy navel and maybe vanilla - I am not super keen on vanilla but I want it for recipes.

I also want to buy a tub of Optimum Nutrtion Any Whey.  You cann add it to stuff you are cooking.

I despise protein shakes, I have started to eat tuna and salmon, all tho I do have a feeding tube still and I do get my protein shake "shot up" 2x's a day. I had my surgery on April 14th, and my NUT said no protein bars yet, still too harsh.

Good luck, I wish I had more suggestions, but I am in the same place as you hun!!!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions....... You have all helped me in some way! I am going to try it all. I'm desperate. My hair is falling out and my nails are getting brittle.

Mix the protein powder in with sugar free pudding and a couple tablespoons of sugar free cool whip.. its yummy!
If you haven't started on Biotin yet I would strongly suggest it (of course clear it with your Dr). My hair loss is just now stopping after about 3 months of it! I think I lost about 1/2 of my hair..

It is FAB, and I love it...

Its hard to find in the stores near me, Im always ordering it online. But well worth the wait.

Plus put it in the freezer until its slushy, its the prefect milk shake.
