Miralax for every day use?

My son has CP and his GI doctor has given it to him for years to use daily. I pour it in his juice and he drinks it daily. I have taken it for 2 years now on a regular basis since my surgery and it keeps me regulated with no side effects. I had been using colace and was told by my pcm and my sons gi doc to stop the colace and use the miralax. Good Luck

The label says that because the company wants to make sure that people aren't using the medication for extended periods of time without notifying their doctors. They're covering their asses that someone doesn't use Miralax to treat a serious problem that needed medical attention.

I've been using Miralax every day for the past two weeks. My mom, an internal medicine PA, says that as long as your doctor knows, there's no problem with using it daily.

I think all medications come with this warning b/c there could be other problems (ex:  constipation could be a symptom of cancer) ... so the manufacturers cover their asses by saying not to take more than X amount of days.  I had extremely sensitive teeth and even Sensodyne said not to use for more than a certain amount of days, but my dentist said to keep using it.

Since I had GB, no amount of fiber and water have done anything for me.  I HAVE to use Miralax every day, and sometimes I even have to take some Senokot too.  I think it's from the high iron supplements, but it is frustrating.

If you are having chronic problems, it is best to talk to your dr, but many of us here use Mirilax every day for years without any problems.
