HI Everyone,
I just got scheduled for lap band surgery May 11, 2009. I wonder if I
would be up to coming to an event like this by then?
I live in Quincy, Ill. about a 5 hr drive from Chicago or we have
a train that goes there too.............It might be a good way to start

Hi Kathy,

Congratulations on getting your surgery date!  If I were you, I'd ask others on the boards whether or not they think you'll be able to attend.  Since many of them have gone through it, even though they're not doctors, they might be able to give you some input from their experience.

Of course, we'd love to have you! We're going to have some great information, along with motivation from Jamie Dukes, former Atlanta Falcon!  Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

I'm from the East Coast (Philadelphia area) and was thinking of attending.  I am sort of new to OH, and do not really know anyone.

Do you usually get people attending from all over?

I would love to meet everyone and get inspired to lose some more weight before my surgery.  Thanks!!!

Hi Phil,

We do get people from a range of areas. For Chicago, we have some coming from Iowa, a few from Kentucky, Ohio, Canada, and one from Pennsylvania and at least a few from Texas.  Now that I've posted our motivational speaker, former NFL Atlanta Falcon, Jamie Dukes, I'm sure attendance will increase by leaps and bounds. Besides all the great information here, we're spicing it up with some fun!

I booked the flight but wondering what to do in and around Chicago; as I have the cheapest flight at 87 dollars from Jet Blue. I had to leave Boston a day earlier and stay an extra day. I am in Chicago from 11th to 15th. So, before I book the hotel tell me what I can do to enjoy Chicago those extra days.

Can I get the cheap hotel rate if I am there the two extra days....I wonder....aloud????

Hi Linda...isn't Jet Blue great?? I wish they flew to more locations.  There is a lot to do in Chicago, and ChristineB is a great travel agent...she had lots of suggestions, so I'll try to get you some info.  Send me an email about your dates and I'll connect with the hotel about you being there longer. Our contract states that the discount rate are to be offered three days prior and three days after the meeting, so you fall into that time frame.  PM me if you'd like for further info.
