Is there a thread on this site for folks that are serious about losing weight?
I don't want the carbs, fat or calories and still have enough to do the dippin' if moderation is what you are thinking.

I do eat a low carb, high protein, high fiber bread.
I'll look into it.
Thanks

Let's really LOOK at this recipe, shall we? According to Fitday, the calorie cout is:
2 lbs. pork bacon-----------------4908 cal/3419 fat cal. 379 gr. fat 336 gf. protein 0 gr. carbs
2lbs. Italian sausage---------------3121 /2235 248 174 39
I jar )16 oz) BBQ sauce 680 / 12 1.3 0 165
Dry rub---not found---can't be much.
Totals-------------------------------8709/6667 638.3 510 204
Now, those totals are for FOUR POUNDS,
or 64 ounces. Per ounce-------------136/104 10 8 3
Now, let's further look at how WLS changes our bodies' ability to absorb fat. We'll look ONLY at fat, because there are no reliable stats for protein and carbs. 'Normal' people absorb 92% of fat, RNYers absorb 62% and DSers absorb 19%. Therefore, for the three groups, the absorbed calores would be:
Normal------------------------------96 fat calories adjusted total=130
RNYer-------------------------------64.5 96.5
DSer----------------------------------20 52
This doesn't take into consideration that both RNYers and DSers also malabsorb protein to some degree. No one knows exactly how much, so we won't go there.
Bottom line, this sounds pretty healthy to me, especially as I am a DSer. But it doesn't sound too bad for you RNYers, either.

So don't eat it.
As for the lard, one ounce has 256 calories, all from fat. For an RNYer, that translated to 159 calories, and 49 calories for a DSer. And yes, I do eat---well, I cook with---lard. I've lost 160 pounds, and my cholesterol numbers put me at one-quarter of the 'normal' risk for heart disease.
Bring on the bacon!
