Denied a referral for not having 6 mo. phys doc. diet

Update....  The denial for a referral by my medical group was overturned by Blue Shield and I had my consult at Orange Coast Memorial!  They didn't require me to do the 6 mo. diet to get a consult.  It took about 2 weeks after I appealed to get the letter.  Thank you all for the help!  Now, to wait for insurance approval!

My insurance company required the 6 month weight loss trial.  I thought the waiting was going to kill me but I got through it and realized that waiting another 6 months to have the surgery was far better than being over weight for the rest of my life.  My advice to you is, go ahead and get with your primary doctor and get your weight loss trial started ASAP...you can still try to work around having to do it if you want to but at least you will already have started it in the event that there is no way around it.  Good luck and try to be patient.  I know it's hard...I have been there.
