I need a little encouragement! I will be three months post op this week. I am down 40 pounds. I know how good that is and that I could not have done it this quick before surgery, but I am being very hard on myself! When I see people posting on here that are 4 months and 60-100 down I wonder how they have done it? I really want to hit the 100# mark at 6 months and that is asking a lot at this point! Does anyone have any advice on how I can get the scale moving a little more?

I know how you feel... I know that I'm doing well... But I do get a little twinge of jealousy when I read about people losing so much more... A few things that I remind myself when I feel like I'm not losing enough... Men lose quicker than women. The bigger someone is when they get WLS the more weight they lose... So obviously if you're a lightweight, you're going to lose weight slower, ya know? Have you started an exercise routine? I just started one a few weeks ago and the scale started to pick up a little bit. Hang in there April

I was down 48lbs at 3 months. They say if you loose at a slower pace, you'll have less sagging skin so I don't mind my WLS taking some extra time if it helps my 48 year old skin shrink up better. Hugs to ya.

Johnna, Everybody loses at her own pace! I was losing quickly until the last month or so. When I complained to the nurse practitioner at my surgeon's office she told me that I was way ahead of the normal rate. The key is if you are still losing. Are you eating as directed and are you exercising at all? I find that when I walk more, I lose faster. Just be grateful that you are healthy and losing weight. I almost died from a pulmonary embolism so I am thrilled to be alive. I feel so much better and have so much more energy than I did before surgery, even though I still have over 100 pounds to lose! Good Luck! Ruth

Hi there I had my surgery 7 days before you and my starting weight is around your starting weight and I have also lost only 40 lbs. However, I do notice the inches which is what convince me that there is some weight loss. I know we would like for things to move along much quicker but as some of the other responses say it is better to loose slower and there will be less sagging skin. I'm glad you posted because now I know that I'm right on track and it is just a matter of time and letting my body do its thing. Keep in touch hopefully we can figure this out together. Good luck on your weight loss and God bless.....Evett

Johhna I had my wls 2 weeks befoer you and I have been feeling the same way. I have lost 52lbs at my last weigh in and have 38 to my dr.s goal 48 to mine. I realized that I shouldn't focas on other peoples losses but boy is it hard. I have been stuck for a bit and that's why I am not weighing myself for a bit. I had this fear that I was done losing. I am drinking eating and unfortuanly the walking has slowed a bit, temp this morning was 8 below and that wasn't with the windchill!!! Anyway we just have to focus on ourselves, don't worry what others are doing. As for hanging skin, mine is hangin all over the place !!!!! If I could cut that all off I would be up there with all those big losers! Good luck and don't worry about others.
