Hi I am 7 months post op and have lost 105 pounds so far- including my 2 week pre op diet. I am extremely happy with my results and feeling great. I did want to lose another 20 pounds or so but would be fine it this were it. The question is- could this be it? I have only lost 4 pounds in the past month....it seems like everything has come to a screeching halt.

All of a sudden everything changed, I am not getting sick at all anymore, I can tolerate just about everything, can eat more at one time, and biggest thing- I feel hungy ALOT! I am so bummed about this- I didnt think it would come back so soon or so strong.  I am trying to keep track of everything and be careful to get my protein and liquids, and I am exercising every day. I have noticed this change coincided with the return of carbs to my diet. So I am trying to limit them.

Has anyone had a similiar experience and or have any advice to keep moving forward? Like I said I am thrilled with my results but wouldnt mind losing another 20....and it seems so early to be coming to an end of the weight loss?

Thanks for reading,
Deb in Beantown

Your honeymoon phase of the first six months post op is over. Now you have to focus on your diet, exercise and make every bite of food put into your mouth count. This doesn't have to be "it". You can lose more. You just have to work for it now....

I know how you are feeling. I went through the same thing. You are not alone and with the holidays here it is very hard to behave and make good choices. Now you need to depend on your willpower to keep you losing. I am still losing, but it's painfully slow and often a yo yo of 4 or more lbs each month coming and going.

Keep your chin up. It is only a tool; now you have to work it.

The same thing happened to me at 4 months post op..I am still struggling to lose more weight. I just bought a treadmill and joined curves  and uped my protein by adding a protein drink in the pm. However stopped losing weight at 4 months but I kept losing inches for months.

Deb, you should TRULY be SO VERY PROUD of yourself ... I know I am and I do not even know you .  As with all WLS, I am sure that prior to surgery you surgeon discussed with you the following:

1.  There Will be a period in which there is DRAMATIC weight loss.

2.  There will be a period where the weight loss begins to slow down.

3.  There will be a time when your weight will plateau and level off.

It has been a FAST and Furious 7 Months for you in which you have lost a great deal of weight and I myself believe that this is the period in which the weight loss is beginning to slow down for you ... as well it should.  Deb, you have lost 105 lbs. in 7 months ... not many people can say that ( including WLS Patients).  You said yourself that you only desire to lose 20 lbs. more, which, if you sit back and think about it is very little compared to where you started from.  Do not become 'Bummed' about this Deb.  This is your time to celebrate your victory and your new Wonderful, Healthy Life ... Rejoice Deb, Rejoice.  If you continue to have concerns, I suggest speaking with your surgeon, but PLEASE do not get upset over this.  Life is Sweet Deb and you had a hand in making it that way.  Take Care.
