Beer = Never....it is carbonated
Wine = Wait at least a year before you have any alcohol.

Carbonation may make you uncomfortable, but it WILL NOT HARM YOU.

What WLS have you had? With the band it is never for anything carbonated unless you let it go almost flat and a few months for wine.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi I had my first glass of wine about 4 months post op and was totally fine. I tried a beer about a month later and it made me really sick. I just didnt realize it was carbonated!
I enjoy a glass or 2 or wine about once a week now (I am 6 months post op) and no problems.
I just sip it really slow and make it last!
Good luck

This really is a question for your surgeon.  He or she will be able to tell you what is best for your recovery right now.

The answer is probably that they would prefer you to wait since you are only 9 weeks out.

My surgeon recommends no alcohol for a year, but alcohol is dehydrating. Not a great idea.

Just based on personal experience, I wouldn't even think about drinking any alochol this early out.  Take a look at this article posted in Sciene Daily:

I think you would be fine with having a glass, but your pouch is still healing and I would give it at least a year.
