Ok it's like you were reading my mind today. I was having this discussion with my sister in law just 2 hours ago.  I am 6 months post op and before surgery i had maybe 1 cup a day but many days i didnt have any and it was not a big thing. Now I am a coffee-a-holic. I cant get enough- it is so damn good and I have to have it. I am trying to stay to 2 cups a day because I know we are not even supposed to have it. I feel so guilty about it but I try and make up for it with extra water and by justifying the fact that it allows me to exercise more because I am like a non stop train after a cup! I wonder why we are craving it?  I have to give a shout out to my new favorite K-cup (for my Keurig) Donut Shop Cofee by the Coffe People....OMG- Nirvana.

Another post op mystery, why can i still not stand the taste of plain old water? It makes me nauseaus. I have to add propel or do crystal lite to get it down- this is getting expensive and the calories add up. Any suggestions?

I can't wait to show these posts to my Aunt tomorrow I just had this discussion with her 2 hours ago, she had the surgery and also began an addiction to coffee! I would have a cup once in a while but it always had me headed straight towards the bathroom now I drink it all the live long day! I just figure it is the new addiction I have taken on. From what I understand it makes you dehydrated because it has caffine in it but I still drink a ton of water too so I don't worry about the coffee its so good! Yummo

Like I said my sister and I had RNY and we didn't have this addiction for coffee so I wondered I should post this on forum to see what is the response. I guess its common to develop this addiction.

I'm curious about coffee/caffeine too.

Now,  I thought I read somewhere that it causes you to have ulcers?   That  really is my biggest concern.  I'm pre-op but in preparation for this surgery I've started diluting the caffeinated with de-caf.    Ewwwww.   I can barely stand it.      I just want my regular Samantra from Starbucks and I'll be all good.

Sounds like it isn't a big problem for the new system maybe I will give regular a try. I hated skipping it but they really made a big thing about caffiene being dangerous. Most people I know try to go decaf before surgery so they dont have withdrawals.
