I had RNY on 01/16/06, and I was wondering if anyone who had WLS had this craving for coffee. Before my surgery, I usually drank coffee (1 cup 2-3 times a week) now the first thing that I do in the morning is to go to the kitchen and drink coffee. Please let me know if you experience this craving, my sister had RNY too and she experiences the same craving. Thanks for reading my message

Never drank coffee in my life.  Til now.

I'm almost a year out (12/17) and have to have at least one large iced coffee every day.  Thank goodness for DaVinci sugarfree syrup!

I have a stupid question probably. On iced coffee, do you just make it like you like it, and then ice it down? I love coffee now but hate it that its hot. Does the davinci sugar free syrups sweeten your coffee? I jsut use a ton of splenda and creamer.

I've always been a coffee lover.  Now, I am a coffee junkie.

I use to drink 1 cup of hot coffee in the morning, now I can drink coffee all day long be it hot or cold.

Many Blessings

I haven't run into this. I thought you were not suppose to have caffeine after surgery.
I haven't tried anything but decaf and it is not fun.

Whether or not to have caffeine is up to you. Research it for yourself---I did, and I concluded that not having caffeine was worse for me than having it.

Just curious, why not have caffeinated coffee?  What would be the risk?

I used to drink 2-3 mugs of coffee with breakfast.   Now, I have no interest or taste for it.  I haven't had a cup of coffee in six weeks.  Go figure.

Before surgery I drank 2-3 cups a YEAR. Didn't care for it at all. Now I drink 30 or 40 cups a day. Thats all I drink.Love, Miss Mary
