Just a little aside to Teresa's post.  You WILL feel much better soon, I promise!  Not everyone's weight flies off though and I never changed clothing sizes in just one week.... but I feel great and look much better - and it will happen for you too.  Try to be careful with your expectations.

I second the thought that you should try counseling (especially since you feel all alone).

Good luck!

I can't be there, but I will be your friend and you can talk to me anytime you want to. I am on here a lot, but not for a long time. I have my surgery this coming Tuesday. I am excited, but I can see how you might feel that way. I'm sending well wishes your way.Take care.

It should not ever go back to being "normal" again. That's how the RNY is supposed to work. You will have some stretching just over time. But that restriction is your friend. It's how you keep weight off with the RNY, because what little malabsorption you have will mostly eventually go away.....except for the malabsorption of vitamins.

You signed on to learn to eat within the limits of your surgery. That's how it works. If you get to eat more "normal" sized portions (hint: What you ate that got you obese was not "normal" amounts of food) later on, you will find that you have to be cautious and count calories. If your instructions were anything like the instructions given by the RNY surgeon I saw back a few years ago, the long term eating rules involved eating about 1,000-1,200 calories maximum a day for the rest of your life.

You poor thing1  You must be feeling terribly alone and sad to WANT to stretch your pouch.  Try to remember how unhappy being MO has made you.  This stage is just the first of many you will go through. Hang in there, and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel.

In the meantime, try to get some varitey in what you are eating, but keep the quantities down!  You had life threatening surgery, as a last resort.  Don't throw that away.

And go out and make some friends at a gym or support club or walking group!  We will always be here, and I too can be an OH friend at any time, but you started a new life 2 weeks ago.  Go out and embrace it.

Your stomach IS normal now.  It wasn't before. Before it was too big for your to live a normal life.  Now you can!  Be excited, enjoy the ride.  Once the swelling goes down, you'll be able to eat a bit more and with more variety.

It only gets better, just take it easy and find a support group or weigh****chers or something.  Come to the boards constantly...anything to know the experience of others.

Oh, if you are two weeks out...the dreaded three week stall may come soon --- DO NOT BECOME ALARMED....it's normal!

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

Oh boy do I know how you feel. I am 6 months out this week and have finally made peace with my decision- but it took at least 4 months for me. I promise you, you will be happy in a very short time down the road. I was miserable, prayed i would wake up and it was all just a dream. I even asked my surgeon what my options were for having it reversed. He laughed!
It was a rough road, but I am now down 100 pounds, have lost 54 inches, gone from a size 28 to a size 12 and I am so HAPPY! Do I miss Boston Kreme donuts and lasagna- hell ya! But I finally understand that silly saying that I used to mock: "Nothing tastes and good as thin feels" maybe because I am finally thin- or close to it- for the first time in my 39 years!
Please hang in there and stay positive, I pray you have a wonderful turn around like I did....what you are feeling is totally NORMAL!
ps do NOT try and overeat or stretch your pouch- the consequences are PAINFUL! I didnt do it on purpose but had alot of food intolerances and difficulties, and life was so much easier just eating soup and yogurt and protein ice cream.

Aleycat01, please make sure to follow your doctor's rules and don't eat what you aren't suppose to too soon.  You have received some very good advice here and it is important to find a support group in your area or maybe through your doctor.  I had VSG but the changes are very similar to RNY.  I felt fortunate that I don't believe I ever went through buyer's remorse however there were times that I was very frustrated I couldn't get in everything I was suppose to.  I have been to several support get-togethers and I also have a friend at work that had the same surgery I did so I believe it really does help to get face to face contact.  There are also lots of people on here that will listen to you.  Check for support groups in your area and with your surgeon's office.

Please keep posting.
