Choked on a Hot Dog !
I am 1 year and 8 days post op. Today was the first day since surgery that I have tried a hot dog. I tried a chicken dog with a little mustard and no bread. I got about half of it down and felt like I was choking. I was gagging, coughing and finally puked ! I think the skin from it got stuck or something. I had such severe chest spasms afterwards. I am afraid to even look at a Hot Dog again, EVER !
Has anyone else had this happen ?

To each is his own but i stay away from hotdogs, spent 1 week in the hospital last time i ate one. Here is what the dr. told me It takes a normal person 3 days to digest a hot dog and you are willing to eat one after you rearranged your guts? So all i can do now is think of what he said when i see them.
The nutritionist or surgeon never told me not to eat a hot dog...I wish they had. I will never attempt it again, especially after what you said..UGGHHHH !

Hungry Girl recommends 97% Fat Free Hebrew National Hot Dogs. 45 calories and good taste. Wish I knew where to get them.
I had one bite (a huge bite, though) of an all beef Dodger dog in September during the play offs. With bun and deli mustard. Delicious. I love baseball.
Had you ever eaten a chicken dog before? I personally can't stand chicken, turkey or vegetarian hot dogs.
I suspect the problem was the usual one many of us have: new products sometimes have undesirable effects. The reason why we are supposed to introduce one new items at a time. Even then, we sometimes get unexpected results from items we have eaten before. Give yourself a couple days and try it again. Go for only half a dog, it's probably as much as your system can handle anyway.

I have tryed the dogs with skin, I removed the skin prior to eating. The meat was to corse. Later I tryed a CHEAP like 99 cent pack kind of hot dog, they have no skin are triple processed and yucky LOL It went better but just was not the same as prior to surgery.
I have the Hebrew International ones in the freezer. I found them to be dry( to high of % of fat free) and a bit salty. I was not impressed after all the happy talk I had heard about them. I bought them at Wal*Mart
