Beanie Weenie

Hey all,  my doc's  big thing is protein.  Protein and little sugar.  With that said, what do you make of Beanie Weenie?  It goes down great and a small can fills me up.  It's loaded with protein but has a little bit of sugar.

I hope it isn't bad for me!!!

I was told not to eat anything with more than 4 grams of sugar in it,  so far I have done very well,  I do not know how many grams the beanie weenies have in it.
Good Luck

I ate Beanie Weenies a couple of times, when I was past the mushy-stage (RNY).

I liked the small cans and that they were easy to just heat up.  However I had a problem with the sugar and I've always been fat sensitive since my surgery, so the hotdogs made me feel icky.

Now if I want that type of heat-and-eat meal, I use 1/2 turkey hotdog and heat a 1/4 cup of canned veggie-chili.  (I've gotta go with veggie chili because the kind with meat makes me sick - again, the fat issue).  I even sprinkle a little sharp cheddar cheese on top.  Not enough to add too many calories, but some flavor.

You're on the right track!!   Keep the protein high and the sugars low.  Get your carbs from fruit and veggies, and drink lots of water (but not during meals)!!

I think the sugar and fat content is a bit high, it's not something I would tolerate well but I also had type II diabetes.  I'm also wary of many canned goods that seem to be highly processed.

On the other hand, I'm okay with chili with beans and I'm super with mushroom barley soup and lentil soup.  All three of these are extremely filling.

If it goes down well and you enjoy it, I don't think it will hurt you. A little sugar doesn't bother me...your body will tell you if it's too much.

As a matter of fact, I think I'll try that...

I love Bush's beans...they have some sugar, but they're so filling that I can't eat enough to really bother me. You just have to try things and find what works...and it sounds like the Beanie Weenies work for you.

For me, sugar isn't as much a problem as fat.  I actually tolerate pretty high amounts of sugar.  I love those beenie weenie's and have eaten them.  I buy the kid's kitchen lunch bucket meals and they're perfect!!  I also eat the vienna's.  Your body will let you know if it can tolerate it or not.
Best Wishes!!

Thank you everyone for all your help!  I worried that my body may tolorate it, but it may be bad for me...I tried Vienna Sausages, but they are too harsh.  so are eggs!

I wanted to try the Kid Kitchen, but I was told to avoid pasta....Seems all of our doctors are different.  I tried a On Cor chicken parmasean dinner (very little at a time), and it sat ok...But the fat is too high so I stay away.
