FREE excess skin removal

HI MY NAME IS JOLEEN I AM FROM MASSACHUSETTES I HAVE HAD WLS, IT WAS SEPT 16 OF 03 MY WEIGHT ON DAY OF THE SURGERY WAS 565 I NOW  WEIGH 210 , I ALSO HAVE HEARD THE RUMORS OF SKIN DONATION TO BURN VICTIMS!! DOES ANY ONE KNOW THE BALL PARK FIGURE OF PLASTIC SURGERY TO REMOVE SKIN???

my skin is in a great state - i lost weight..... but no stretch marks, skin cancer or skin related diseases ....lost weight super young- worked out every day, kept a food journal for 3 years.....have you people noticed that u have lost your weight by bypass procedures? are older-with horrible strech marks, no elasticity and just look funky,to me (that's the truth-sorry) and a lot have had serious health concerns-  (helllo?)hence surgery- lost my weight naturally kept if off from 18 till now and im 32..... i look 23. do you really think some kid needs your funky skin????? i stress funky ! if ur trying to get free surgery from donating ur used, "rode hard put to bed wet " goods...ummmm i'd say no thanks. my dad was a fireman for 40 years and my brother was severly burned in a fire as baby. hes undergone 30 plus opperations...(he's 25) do you  think he wants the stretched marked, dried up, sagging skin from your fat butt so u can get a free surgery???!!!  he'd rather get a balloon under his skin to stretch it so that he might have eye lids as to benifit him sleeping and blinking. i think some of u on here are pathetic and want to use a person or a cause for your benefit! and i say you can suck it! some of u freaking people blow my mind!  ..'Oh im so fat! surgery required, oh now im skinny and i was 45 but look 93 , i think i will try to donate my 100 year old looking skin to some poor, sick "kid" to look like a hero,  in order to gain a free service...by the way did i say it was ALL ABOUT ME! i must have forgotten- sorry i was thinking about myself!'

I feel sorry for you. So much hate. Many people with WLS get it to help their health and well being. I noticed that you had some very derogatory comments to the people who posted on here. I applaud those, not you, who posted as most said thet did not care about getting it free, they just wanted to help someone if they could. A totally different viewpoint than you, a person obviously dealing with some deep personal issues, obviously you would have to be, to attack strangers like you have. To use your words "IMAHOTCHICK" you, are pathetic, and obviously very conceited judging from your name. You may be 32 but you act like a spoiled child.

I didn't care for her post either but to say she is conceited because she thinks she is hot is going a bit far.  It really is okay to have a positive attitude and self esteem.

 I applaud you for your weight loss success but I believe you could gain some compassion and maybe a little humility. Most of the posts I read were from people looking for answers not pathetic people looking to get something for free. Most of us aren't as fortunate as you to have gotten your weight under control at such a young age when your body and skin were still in condition to react positively to weight reduction. Now those who have had success with weight loss be it through natural or surgical means are looking to take another step towards feeling good about themselves and being healthy. Being critical and negative is counterproductive to people who have taken a positive step forward, maybe you should inform not criticize. And what if our skin were viable and having it harvested at no cost to the donor were an option how would that be a bad thing?

well, well, well let's spread the negativity. i doubt your a hot chick inside or out. if your thoughts are that RANCID keep them to yourself. not everyone on this site has had weight loss surgey and not everyone is 40 and over. i doubt that you have even lost a pound......flabby a**.

Your skin may be in great shape but your heart is obviously in need of some serious therapy. How can you be so judgemental toward people that you don't know and who are only looking for a way to help others and feel better about themselves. I think you should change your screen name to Mrs. Grinch because your are HEARTLESS!

I do not beleive it is free but for those wishing to donate you can go to Musculosketal transplant foundation site and find out how to be a living donor.  the site is mtf.org/donor/living_skin.htm   this site even has a 1 800 number for your physician to call to see if you are eligable to donate wont help with your expense but will bless others

I just wanted to say that donation of our excess skin after gbs is a wonderful idea and gift to a person who's skin is so severely destroyed by burns.  No, our excess skin is not perfect, however, as a health care worker I have seen some horribly burned victims that would give anything to have skin donated to them even if it is not perfect.  A lot of my skin does have some stretch marks, some of it doesn't.  If it could be used to help someone I would do it in a heartbeat....if it was free for me for donating or if I had to pay out of pocket.  Either way I would do it.  So, people please stop with all the negative comments.  There is nothing wrong with people investigating this option and if it is free than even better.  Many who have excess skin removed have it disposed of so to even think about donating to help someone else is a wonderful idea.  I was 300 lbs pre surgery in 2005 I am now 127 lbs but have had major health issues due to this surgery and the malabsorption it causes.  I wish I hadn't had the surgery but it is what it is.  I am fighting a battle daily being 34 and already having osteoperosis and about 15 other medical complications and issues I am dealing with that I think i would not be if I had not had the surgery.  So everyone considering having GBS, think long and hard about it and do plenty of research.  Best of luck to all
