SOME insurance will pay for limited skin removal on your pannus, IF it is well documented AND deemed medically necessary. I've never, ever seen an insurance company pay for thigh lift, arms, or anything else.

Medicaid does not preapprove such things. If you have it done and they refuse after, you will be stuck with the bill.

No, not true. Our skin is damaged. It has no elasticity, it is stretched, over grown, and scarred. Burn victims cannot can NOT use our skin.

Hi April,

Did you ever find out the answer to whether or not free surgery is available in exchange for skin donations?

Not sure about this hospital but, I do know that some big teaching hospital will remove skin for free if u have a certain amount and then donate it to there burn unit..I heard resident plastic surgeons do the procedure???

Lots of investigating needs to be done if anyone chooses to do this.

Most insurances will pay for skin removal if its related to a weight loss surgery. Go to a plstic surgeon near you, tell him your journey, he willtake pictures and turn it into the insurance company. That is how I had mine done.
