I started my protein shakes this week and they make me nauseous!  I am fine with everything else.  Any ideas of what I can do?

Thanks
Suzette

Is it nausea from the taste? Texture? Are you using milk to make it? Are you lactose intolerant?

If it is from the taste or texture, sorry, but hold your nose and suck it up. You HAVE to have your protein shakes, or all sorts of things can go wrong.

Are you having diarrhea? If you are lactose intolerant now, you may have to talk with your doc about getting on a different kind of protein.

Good luck. I know it sucks. There are all sorts of protein shakes and mixes out there. Try thm till you find one. If you don't find one (I never did) just get it over with. I STILL do protein shakes, and I STILL hate them ;-)

What kind of protein shakes are you drinking? I found the Atkins shakes made me more nauseous in the beginning, I then tried the zero Carbs Isopure shakes which was better. It could be just the kind of protein shakes that you're drinking.

Hi!!  The protein shakes make me sick also.  I think it is the smell along with the taste!!  YUCK!!  I have been drinking Carnation Instant Breakfast No sugar Added and it has 14 grams after I put in the milk but that is the only way I can get proteiN!!  Hope this helps!!  :)

The first few days after surgery I was having trouble w/my protein shakes too.  My surgeon says we HAVE to use Carnation IB  along w/two scoops of BeneProtein powder & milk.   I finally found that making it a bit thinner by adding a little extra milk & then putting it in the freezer for 30 minutes or so before I drink it helps a LOT.   I found that having it colder really helped.
