ATTENTION EARLY OUTS: Yes, You WILL "Stall"!
Stalls are Soooo common! I hit my first at 5 weeks out (lasted for around 3 weeks) then JUST hit my biggest one about a month and a half ago (lasted nearly 7 weeks..And that 7 weeks was NOT just the scale not going down, but no inches coming off either! (and yes I was following the rules, going to the gym, etc).
Finally it broke and I am now over 100 lbs LOST! (and a another size down in a few days!)
This journey of WLS, regardless of which kind you get, is like a rollercoaster. Up, down, loop-de-loop and round and round. You have no control over it and your body WILL lose in fits and starts. You can either HANG ON and enjoy the journey and celebrate good health and realize that ALL things have their season and place or be "terrified" and "upset" about it.
Even when I lose, it is/was NEVER "steady....My typical pattern is to lose 1-3 lbs within 2 weeks, then lose NOTHING for 2-3 weeks, and so on... This is how our human body operates. So many people and newbies see these wonderful photos of 100, 200, 300 lbs lost and assume it just "melted off" 2-3 lbs a day (or week) and that is in reality NOT at all how the weight comes off for most of us.
Another thing is accountability...If you are allowing your carbs to creep up, if you are NOT getting all your protein in, if you are SLACKING on your vitamins or exercise then do NOT be surprised if the scale is moving a bit slower for you...If you are a female (even menopausal) the scale is going to move slower for you. These are things we need to study about and accept as part of the journey.
7 months out and 100lbs lost... I am beyond happy, but it certainly did NOT come "off" at once or smoothly. I watch what I eat EVERY day, eat low carb, work out at the gym 1-2 hours a day (pumping iron) and do cardio 3 times a week. I make sure to get 70-100 grams of quality protein and I cook 99% of my meals. I don't do processed food and make sure to drink at least 64oz of just pure water (in addition to anything else).
Good luck to all!
Warmly,
Jackie
