Chipotle burrito bowl, 6 weeks out? ***Update***

I need help knowing if this is a wls food. I *think* it is, but I'm venturing out a little bit and would prefer to know from the more experienced people if it's a good idea or not.

A burrito bowl (for those who don't have a Chipotle nearby) is a burrito without the tortilla (hence, the bowl it comes in). I was thinking of having (you can choose) either the pinto or black beans, the shredded pork (could choose steak or chicken, but the pork is typically the moist-er of the 3), salsa, cheese, sour cream, and avacado (these are usually in small amounts).

I know at the most I could eat 3-4 bites and the rest would be put away for later.

Please, no flaming. I could be totally wrong about trying this...but it seems ok to me. I'm still trying to learn.

Thanks for your help.

Okie Dokie, I gave it a try (for those who want to know, lol).

I had DH pick it up on his way home from work. I got a double order of pinto beans, pork (it's very moist and shredded) and cheese, with quacamole and sour cream on the side. When he brought it home I stirred up the beans, cheese and pork and made sure the pork was shredded all the way with no chunks, and then I enjoyed my little portion...VERY slowly...and put the rest away (DH asked if there was something wrong because I didn't eat any of it. lol...I told him it's hard to see 4 bites of food missing.)

Well...everything went fine. My pouch was happy, and I got to enjoy an old favorite food, and I have a lunch of dinner for myself for the next couple of days until I throw away what I don't want to finish. :)

I'm so happy it went well!

That actually sounds pretty ok to me. I know chipotle is suppose to use organic ingredients and almost everything they have is healthy. I wouldn't do the pork though, even if it is moister. I would stick to the chicken and just cut it up into really really small pieces. And like you said if you can't fini**** you can take the rest with you.

Try going on their website. I'm pretty sure they have the nutritional information up. Based of that you'll know if it's 'safe' or not. Best rec if you really really want to try it is take it home with you. If you end up getting sick, well at least your home. gl and no worries no flaming from me, I know how hard this far out of surgery can be.

I hate you! Chipotle is no where near me....I just long for a burrito.

Can anyone ship me one?

If it was me, I wouldn't try it I would only stick with what my doctor/nutritionist says I can have.

My doc/nutritionist (for what they are worth) have a diet plan that ended this week, so I'm on my own with solid food. That's why I'm trying to learn what to try now.

Just as a side note, even though any "formal eating plan" ended, you shouldn't feel like you're on your own and you really shouldn't venture out on your own without some guidance.  Try to go back to your doctor or nutritionist, or both, and get some tips.  If they won't give you a menu, then get some general guidance (i.e., very moist chicken, hamburger, beans, etc -- sorry I can't remember what I ate back then).  But they are there to help you WAY past the surgery -- at least the good ones are.  :)

Good luck!

I agree with you, and when I said I could venture out, I didn't mean I'd go all crazy, lol. Unfortunately, my surgeon's office has very little help past this stage, so I'm doing things slowly and being VERY cautious.

I don't have contact with my Surgeon now or his office due to the pending lawsuit I have against them for the surgeon's negligent behavior following a complication that caused me to endure another surgery and permanent damage.  So...you can see why I have to take over from here on my own too. I would prefer more support, but right now I have OH and my local group to ask questions.

Holy guacomole!! (Pardon the Mexican food pun!)  I didn't realize you had a pending lawsuit and lots of trouble brewing, so forget my last reply.  :)  Of course, this board is an excellent resource, but maybe for a more detailed food plan, a dietician or nutritionist would be extremely helpful.  I have a GREAT one, but unfortunately, she's in another state so going back and forth via e-mail is sometimes less effective than a face-to-face.  Having said that, I've been looking into eNutritionCare.com to see what resources they offer.  A bit pricey, but maybe they can help you as well.

Nevertheless, keep asking questions here -- I've certainly learned a lot!

Best wishes!

I had one at the end of my pureed stage. It was pork, black beans, cheese and salsa on the side... It was yummy. I didn't have a problem because the pork was so moist and I chewed it well. Yes, there were only a few bits eaten... but man, were they a good few bites!  Enjoy!

I had one right after I was cleared to proteins.  I did it with pinto beans and chicken with cheese and top.  Once I was cleared to add sour cream after 1 month I had that on top too.  Technically I am not allowed salsa until the 4 month mark but I did use a little bit to flavor and moisten with.  I ate like 5 meals off of one bowl and still had to throw some out.  However, the chicken is really not my favorite but I don't get beef or pork bac****il the 4 month point so after that I just got it with the pinto beans, cheese and sour cream.  Super tasty!! love it!
