I never said that I was an expert and I don't claim to be. One thing that I don't do is go around insulting others for what they take. I am just a bit annoyed with the way that you treat people that follow their surgeons and nutritionists programs I read the thread earlier where a poor girl was given hell for following her program. I don't block people because I think that is childish I just think that you think that your way is the only way and oh my God no one better disagree with you or they will get flamed and made to look stupid in front of all their peers. I know that my nutritionists all have bachelors degrees or masters degrees and I trust my program and surely all the patients at my surgeons office that follow the program aren't doing so well just by luck. Oh and by the way I never insulted your intelligence I do not think that you are stupid I just disagree with your opinion on vitamins that's all. It was a simple fact that you are not educated in this area, I would not let my general practitioner do surgery on me that does not mean that he is stupid.

Andrea is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the way you react to her posts. YOU are responsible for your OWN reactions. Just because YOU think she's saying "my way or the highway" doesn't mean that IS what she is saying!

WHY do you feel it is essential to insinuate that new postops SHOULDN'T listen to Andrea's great advice to "get educated"? HOW does it hurt YOU that she is trying to help people to learn for themselves what is right for their bodies?

It just flips me out how often people get offended by straight up information.

The information was not straight up the information for the Optisource Vitamins was misleading you take 4 of them per day so contrary to what the post says the amounts are actually much better. My problem is not with her educating people it was the flaming that went on earlier on another thread it just annoys me I think that there are better ways to educate people other than making them feel and or look stupid for following there program. Anyway that is all I will say I will avoid these threads now because I see that other opinions are not welcome. So by all means educate the masses!

Are you kidding me, also..... I am over seven years out and I could not agree more with Andrea. She has got an awesome amount of info to share and the only complaint that I see from you is how she delivered it. Good grief... shes trying to help you NOT have the issues that some of us had. Prevention is worth much more than you think.

Knowledge Jessica is so very powerful and by the way, she does accept your comments.

Jessica, I think you are being defensive, I was by no means (and if it came across that way I'm sorry) trying to make someone seem stupid.  What I was trying to do was make people think outside the box and to be pro-active in their health.  As for the way I "treat people", I think you are reading me wrong, check out my history on OH; I have NEVER been known to mistreat people, NEVER, I am one of the most supportive persons you'll probably find on OH.

I've been around for a while and I've seen some serious complications others have experienced because they weren't their own advocate.  OH is not my only source of information, nor have I taken everything my surgeon said for granted.  Believe me my surgeon is a great cutter, but has no idea about nutrition, NONE.  I'd be crying for help right now if I listened to his info on post-op nutrtion, hell I may even be dead right now.

If what Andrea or anyone else for that matter post information about vitamins and minerals and it helps ONE, just ONE person by-golly that is win-win situation.  Here is a great article on post-op nutrition done by a group of RD's.  If you get time and your interested please take some time to print it out and read it.   http://download.journals.elsevierhealth.com/pdfs/journals/15 50-7289/PIIS1550728908001639.pdf.  This is only one of many peer reviews available for us.

OMG, are you kidding me... you are 3 months out and believe that you have any basis for discussion.  I actually did spend MANY, MANY years at a University and can tell you that nutrition is one, maybe two courses. And none are directed at bariatrics.

BTW: I am 5 years out and totally agree with Andrea's post and I DO have the degree's to back it up.

You trust your nutritionist with your health? Wow. I don't trust ANYONE with my health, at least not blindly. No one is invested in my health as I am.

They have to earn my trust over and over and even then I tend to check things out myself.

Andrea, melting Mama, etc...When I go for my 3 month check up I meet with my NUT, exercise guy and PA for the surgeon all at different times.  Who should I be directing my questions to regarding vitamins?  The Doctor or the NUT?

Thanks!  I am printing stuff off like crazy and reading and highlighting...at some point I need to get a life and get the highlighter marks off my hands!!  ha ha
