What to eat??

I've been reading lots of peoples posts and hearing information about eating cottage cheese, yogurt, etc...soon after surgery because it's tolerable. What can I eat if I don't like either of those items?   I'm sorta worried that I won't have a choice but to eat them and they both just gag me to no end.  My nut told me about cream of wheat or cream of rice cereal which I hate too but I'm willing to tolerate the cream of wheat if there isn't anything else. What can I mix protein powder with to make sure I'm getting my requirements?   I was told to stay on broth, jello and popsicles for 2 weeks after surgery but will my protein drop in that time?   Sorry for so many questions...I'm starting to get nervous about being deficient.

Yes, I do like refried beans and cheese. I like chicken, beef, but won't eat tuna. I was trying to think of soft things that would go down easily...I know my sister said something about sugar free pudding for mixing with the protein powders. I think chicken is probably my favorite and any kind of cheese. I love veggies!!

when i was early post op - like the first several days i ate only ice chips and maybe a bit or two of yogurt - but, i like yogurt
dannon light and fit has a vanilla that is very smooth
you might want to try it
walmart has it in some little bitty packs i think they come 4 or 6 in a "pack" and the packets are small - does that make sense?
if you dont like it - you might try it again after surgery - you might change your mind

was it your doc that wanted you to be on clear liquids (broth and popsicles) for the first two weeks? mine put me on puree right away and i think i was on it for two or three weeks - cant remember now  - it seemed like an eternity
i hated the puree or blenderized food - it seems "foamy" to me
but, i could smash stuff and put some water with it and it was good
i also ate cream of wheat and some mashed potatoes - even though they werent protien fortified - i just didnt worry about it for the first few days - then i really pumped up the protien once i was able to eat

I have noticed a lot of people are eating much sooner than my particular surgeon suggests..he wants me to baby my pouch in the beginning and I think thats a good thing..even if its going to be hard.  I am not to have any protein supplements while on my clear liquid phase (a week for me) cottage cheese is an option for me in the pureed stage..I cannot imagine eating pureed cottage cheese so I will pass on that one ;)
Back to the no protein in the clear liquids phase..my doc and nut told me that the most important thing is this phase is just to stay hydrated.
I bought some stage one baby foods for the pureed stage..yum! lol also low fat cream soups..I am pre op too so Im just learning.

Have you ever tried cottage cheese mixed with a packet or half a packet of sugar free jello mix, use to taste, and then to add when you can crushed in its own juice pineapple. This is a staple for dSers almost. I make it now pre DS, and add some cool whip to that if y ou want. Very tasty, differnt taste for the cottage cheese. We call this Thelma's salad on the DS board, but name it what you like I guess.

Hi Sandy, They told me I could have cream soups at that phase, so I had Healthy Choice Cream of Chicken or Tomato; my husband also tried Healthy Choice Cheese Broccoli (it's low fat or fat free - can't remember) -- puree any of them with Lactaid milk and protein powder - it's worth using the blender, because otherwise the protein makes it lumpy and disgusting....  Pudding does not cover the taste of the protein powder for me.  --Sarah

also be careful with prepackaged sugar free pudding
it has sugar alcohol and could cause you some dumping or other problems
get the dry and mix it yourself
i ate that in the beginning
still do

i found out later that you can ea****ermellon during the puree stage
the cream soups are yummy - i dont really like the healthy choice ones because of the low sodium - but, the lower fat is the best choice

My doctor also wants to baby my pouch for the first 5 weeks so you can eat cream soups, Sugar free jello and puddings. I don't like cream of wheat so I ate baby cerial with low fat milk, its not bad. Baby food meats don't taste too bad but I couldn't get past the texture in my mouth. Ask your Nut there are lots of things you can eat in this stage. Also if you don't have one you might want to think about getting a Magic Bullet (as seen on TV ) they are great for making any soup creamed and mixing protien shakes.
