looking for local Kaiser patients in Bay area

Hi Everyone, I am very new to this....going to a meeting in a few weeks and been doing lots of research. I am looking for anyone out there that had their surgery at Kaiser in either Fremont CA or S. San Fransisco, CA.  Obviously, these will be my two choices of where to have the surgery. My mind is already made up to have the suregery, now it's about getting there. Any information you can share about the programs would great...thanks Tami

  I had surgery in Fremont 18 months ago by Dr. Dennen! He is the absolute greatest! He is head of the department in Fremont. There are several differnces between the programs each Kaiser offers. Some make you do a 6 month nutrition class. Fremont does not. Some will only take your starting weight the day of oreintation. Fremont will accept the highest weight on your record so you could start losing now. The Hospital staff was grat and I am soo happy I did this. If you go to Yahoo and do a search for Kaiser weight loss groups you will find several. Also try the state board here at OH. Please feel free to email me with any questions you have. OH, Kaiser will assign you a place to have the surgery but you can call and request a different facility.

Hi Nancy, Thanks for replying...I live in Milpitas so Fremont would an ideal choice for me. It's could to know that you can move through the process quickly.If I get my way I will have the surgery by the end of the year. Once I decided to do this, it's all I can think about and strangely enough I have had thre coworkers share with me that they also gone through the procedure with great success. I have my referral to the bariatric and my appointment is on 11-9,I have a bmi of 41 to 43 unsure of my height I have seen the nutri all ready and my pschi,and all of the other appoints are all the first and second week of Nov. i still need to schedule my EKG,chest x ray and I am unsure what else so if you can tell me as much as you can I would love the know

Fremont Kaiser is really behind!  I had my first consultation with Dr. Dutta in March and I was told to lose 26 pounds and do all of the tests (EKG, Chest Xray, gall bladder ultrasound, psych eval, lab work, etc.) I got all of that done and hit my goal weight 8 weeks ago.  I received a email from Dr. Dutta that I was approved for surgery and just needed to wait to hear from the program coordination.  Two weeks after that, I called Nancy and she said she'd she'd call me in October and probably have surgery in November.  Since October 12, I've been calling them almost on a daily basis, but her vm is so full you can't leave a message.  I've been in the process for over a year now and hopefully will schedule a surgery date soon!  My point is to be patient and stay on track!  Good luck to you
