How many of you had your RNY by General Surgeon not Board Certified one?

My SIL had RNY with a general surgeon and it was a disaster, although the man had done many procedures before that time. He no longer does any bariatric surgery. SIL had to get a revision two years alter, which by all accounts was much tougher the second time around due to scar tissue etc. A spcialist is much more likely to have pre-op and post-op plan that are useful and meaninful, and office staff who are trained to deal with your needs. For my health and money, I always try to choose medical professionals with special training in the areas of my concern. Even my plastic surgeon specializes in burn victims and those with massive weight loss, and I couldn't be happier with the results.
Just my opinion.

My SIL had a general surgeon do his first RNY. Two years later he had to have a revision by a certified bariatric surgeon to correct all kinds of problems. It was a much harder surgery due to the way this first had been done and lots of scar tissue.
For my money and health I would only choose someone who has specialized training. I believe they are more likely to have useful and meaningful pre-op and post-op support materials as well as office staff who are trained and attentive to the needs of bariatric patients. I look at it this way: If I want fine French cooking, I go to a restaurant with a French-trained chef, not to the local Bistro who uses a French cookbook to prepare the food.
