Hey everyone, I haven't been on the boards in two years. Long story - finally got approved. My bypass is set for this Thursday. I am really not nervous but I do have a question or two. Is there anyone out there who has done this and then regretted it? My biggest fear is gaining back all the weight. I hear that so often. Any answers?

Hi there, I too am going for surgery on Thursday. I am not too nervious either. I feel very good with my doctor and my hospital. I hear you about will it work, what if it doesn't, etc.  I really think that journeling will help with this as it is hard to always remember the road you traveled. I am sure it will have many ups, downs, bumps, tears, etc.

I believe we are turning to this surgery for the help we finally need. I do at times think my family expects it not to work just like other things. I am determined to do this and I will make it work and you will too..

Best of luck.. Lori

Can't really help you. Not for four weeks; however, I do know there is a 'Regrets' forum if you check on the 'more forums link.

Good luck. Your heart will tell you what you want to do.

Hi, don't have regrets of having the surgery. But... I had lap rny on 5/28 and have come down with a really bad bacterial infection called C-Difficli. This is cause by taking antibiotics that ends up killing the good bacteria in your intestines as well which then causes c-diff. which is usually but not allways gotten from a hospital or long term care facility. This causes diarrhea and somtimes a fever. It also does not happen right away. It can happen several weeks after discharge. Mine started 3 weeks later. My dr. thought it was the flu. Finally had stool tested and found out the bad news. Makes sure you take yogurt during any antibiotic tx.This infection can kill you. It's serious. Please check out this web site to read about c-diff to prevent complications. www.mayoclinic.com/health/c-difficlle/DS00736 Good luck Michele

It too took me 2 years to get approved. By the time my surgery rolled around I was as excited as a kid at Christmas! I have no regrets. My doubts popped up 3 months before surgery when I got approval from the insurance company. I am sooo glad I went through this and the only regret is I did not do it earlier! Congratulations and good luck!

Hi, I just had surgery 7-7-08. I read all the posts about waking up and starting to have doubts and regrets, and I poo pooed them. I had neck surgery last August and foot surgery 6 months before that and flew threw them like a breeze. WEEEELLLLL let me tell you, they were right. I woke up and started thinking what did I do, My insides are all changed, I want to go back. Well, 1 week later I'm home, I'm getting protein and vitamins and exercise and fluids and am ready for this journey to pick up speed.

Best wishes for a safe procedure and speedy recovery.

Peace,

Linda
