What Is Up With McD's Of Late?

I usually don't do McDonald's (except for some driinks from time to time) but I was so hungry the early a.m.  yesterday that I drove through one for a quick Egg McMuffin, which I haven't had since long before being a pre-op ..   I went to take a bite and it was NASTY ..    like over 1/2 of it must have been a big "patty" of almost pure eggwhite (which I hate anyway) ..     It was like they poured the whites of 2 or 3 eggs into a form of some kind and boiled or baked it ..  very little meat and cheese on it, relatively .   I remember in the old days it was more yolkish, like a little omlette folded and put over a big slice of cheese and one of ham or sausage ..      Moreover, the McM + a cinammon roll (which I admit wasVERY good) set me back almost $5.00 ..    Last night I went back again and was curious to read their menu more carefully this time, as to the prices, esp. the $ menu  ..  Looks like a LOT of items have been removed from the $1 menu and now are more like $2+, including breakfast burritos, McMuffins, 6-piece McNuggets,  and even small OJs ..        Is this really the result of high fuel prices, or just a popular restaurant gone greedy?      It looks like it's back to drinks only for me at McD's, at least for now!

LOL! I steer clear of that joint for the most part. My kids, who are  4 and 5, LOVE to get a Happy Meal there a few times a year for a special occasion. The total always comes to around $9!!! Forget that! Also, I love how they now have 4 McNuggets for $1. SILLY! Oh yeah...and their iced coffee sucks too, LOL! Molly

I love their Diet Coke!  The rest of the food/beverages I do not like-never did (but I used to eat A LoT of it).   Anyhow, jus****ch the movie "SuperSize Me"  and you will not want to eat there again.  My 8 year old son REFUSES to eat anything from there.  He will not even agree to go for lunch with friends and play in the playland.  That movie changed my whole families perspective on McDs and all fast food joints.  It really is a good movie! Breakfast is usually the only thing I ever get from them (rest of the stuff is too greasy and my stomach goes "hail no!") and that's maybe twice a year! I've never had your issue - that sucks! I'm definitely steering clear once I have surgery :D

I agree, McD's is GROSS now.  I used to really like the food, but it tastes bad and the prices are too high.  I'd rather have a salad or chicken fajita pita from Jack in the Box.

The egg issue is becasue they do two types of eggs. I have to ask for "folded" egg on it. Other wise you get this hug chunk of nast egg whites with one tiny littly yellow spot, lol. It is really sad but I live next to one so we go off and on. I usually just get the folded egg with cheese on muffin and get a pop. Cheap and easy on belly. Ours still has tons of $1 stuff. We live off those menus when we go out. Hope that little bit helps. just remember "folded egg" and it won't be as bad

Last time I tried McDonalds bfast I didnt even get that far - the first bite I took tasted like I dumped a salt shaker into my mouth (bacon egg and cheese biscuit)... I had the BF taste it and he said 'its fine'... that one bite made me feel so greasy, nasty, salty for hours (it was during a damn rd trip, 430am!).  All resturants are raising their prices - I dont think its resturant going greedy... its just how things are today. I work at a small specality market and we sell foods from a lot of local farmers, local bakers etc - they all have had to raise their prices due to the increase in cost of supplies etc... while they are not a big business like McDonalds still a lot of chains are individually owned/managed so the increase in costs is effecting somebodies pay check ya know?
