Ever Been Treated "Differently" By A Police Officer B/c Of Your Weight?

Actually, I think b/c of my big pre-op size on at least a couple of occasions back then I had traffic cops let me get out of a ticket.     One time I was pulled over for ostensibly failing to dim my headlights in time on a street.  Once the cop shined his flashlight inside my car and saw me, he kinda frowned w. a disgusted look and, after quickly verifying I had a d.l., let me go w/o even a warning (he never even asked to see my proof of insurance).     I remember at the time having a thought streak through my mind like, "since I look so huge and bloated he probably KNOWS Im nott some major criminal on the lam from the good guys."     Another time I was pulled over by a female officer for not wearing a seatbelt.  Once I showed her (incidentally, she was almost as SO as I was) that I couldn't even begin to get the seatbelt around me, she kind of gave a pained expression, mumbled something quickly about extender belts, and left.       I'm curious as to whether anyone else feels there was occasion where they were either given a break / leniency by law enforcement b/c of their size (pre or post-op) or their weight caused them to be treated more harshly by an officer or not taken as seriously than they would have been if they had been of a normal size.

Since I haven't been pulled over by a police officer in 20 years, I couldn't tell ya.  Perhaps if you just followed the laws, you wouldn't be able to ponder such things?

If I didn't get even a single stop for SOMETHING in 20 years ..  I'm either not driving much or not living life much ...  !     As Buffett sang,  I'd rather live while I'm dying that live while I'm dead ..

Actually the quote is "I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead."

Well it hasn't happened to me by cops but it has happened to me by other people.  For example, I tried the whole online dating thing on e-Harmony and I ended up getting alot of "Closed" replies.  I was very hurt and I tried not to let it get to me but it did.  Funny thing is that I don't feel unattractive but most men just don't like large women.  Instead of getting dates, I was a target for many scams.  There were these creeps that kept sending me photos of models but I caught on to their scams before they were able to get to my bank account.  They must have thought that I was easy prey since I was overweight and looking for love on the net.  My self esteem took a hard knock but I was finally able to overcome it.

I always assume if I get out of a ticket it's because of my winning personality.

I have been pulled over MANY times, but mostly when I was driving a hoopdy car.  Only been pulled over twice since I got rid of that car 4 years ago.  I got a few warnings for speeding or headlights being out, but never had the inkling it was because of my weight.  I would imagine it was because I am very courteous to them and respect them.  I know their job is tough, so I don't need to make their night worse. I have gotten 2 tickets, the first of which I deferred and stayed out of trouble.  The second I took to court, the judge was having a bad day and decided to give me a break, out of everyone in the court room that she was sticking it to.  Again, not because of my weight, I think more because I was respectful to her.  I watched at least 5 other people mitigate their ticket, the same ticket I got, on the same stretch of road with the same excuse I planned to give.  They all had to pay.  However, since I had requested a hearing to contest it rather than mitigate and there was a paperwork error, they didn't have the correct forms ready for me.  Rather than have me reschedule, she smiled and said she would dismiss the ticket.  I gave her a great big smile back, said Thank You and walked out of the courtroom with a clean driving record! My theory is that we are sometimes the target of weight discrimination, but I have never heard of being treated positively for something they noticeably hate about us.  Doesn't even make sense to me.  I know many people can be overly sensitive about it, and can often read into the situation based on their sensitivity.  Not saying that is the case here, just an idea.

I got pulled over once for not wearing a seat belt. I normally have a Dr's note on my just incase I am in a car where I don't have my extender, but this ***** pulls me over and I was trying to explain to him that I couldn't wear a seatbelt in the car because I was fat and it doesn't fit. His reply was I can obviously see that, ha he gave me a ticket but it ended up getting dropped.

I've been pulled over a few times, I cried every time (genuinely, because I'm a big baby) and I was let go with a warning each time.  All the officers involved were older "dad" types and I don't think my tears would have had an affect on a female officer.  So maybe it's possible cops have different reactions to suspects based on gender, weight, physical appearance, and.....egads! race.  A person's weight is just one part of it.  Law enforcement is accused of racial profiling all the time, maybe overweight people could scream "size profiling" and get out of their tickets, what do you think? haha
