Brookhaven Obesity Clinic--WTF!!!!!!!!

I am watching this show on Discovery Health channel and it's making me mad.  If the announcer says one more time that weight loss surgery is a quick fix I'm going to scream!  Even the administrator of the clinic said something to the fact of -who came up with making the stomach the size of a grape, that's just crazy, it's the easy way out.  WHO THE H#LL SAID THIS WAS EASY OR QUICK!!!!!!! I just can't stand uneducated people.  What really makes me mad is the adminstrator of the facility, I expected more from him.  The people on this show are morbidly obese and no WLS is not for everyone, but don't just out right tell people that the surgery is stupid and the easy way out. Sorry everyone I had to rant about this.

Is this the show where the patients or the residents get food deliveried?  I saw so many of these shows on discovery.  As you know it is not a quick fix and it sure as hell not easy.   Glad you were able to get it off your chest. Jeanne   

Yeah thats the one, they try to make the residents eat according to their plan, but the people still order outside food.  Some of the residents don't even want to stop over eating and that's sad; now there is some there that want to loose weight and are following the program.

 

Are you sure that place isn't an asylum?

Maybe the administrator is taking too many happy pills.

Don't you love the close ups of these poor people shoveling food into their mouths in slooooow motion???  They make them look like pigs, which is why they do that.  I hate that show. Annette

In this one support group I was in a while ago, they said that among other things, like brushing your teeth or eating a min****ching another person is supposed to be a "food stopper" when you're dieting.

Watching it in slow motion is even more nauseating.  I feel bad for the people they videotape ... Why they subject themselves to that is anyone's guess. Annette

LOL! Thanks ! I needed a goog chuckle. No. This is not the easy way out of anything. I may have lost a bunch of weight but I am still a living breathin human being with most of the same food issues that need to be controlled as they did before only now I have far more to "lose" as I have altered my body forever. I do not regret my decision for one minute, but God as my witness, it wasn't then (5 years ago) and it isn't now, quick..... and sure as heck not easy! [email protected]

think about it this way... if that director guy advocated for WLS, he'd be out of a job real soon. Imagine what he's making off of the insurance companies of all those people?  They're LIVING there for 3, 6, 12 months or longer.. I wonder what the rate is for treatment there.  That guy's RAKING it in... and some people COME BACK.  I haven't seen it this season, so I don't know if he's back again, but look at that one guy, Michael Hebrenko (sp?) or something like that.  I think he's one of their frequent fliers. We should invite that director guy to the next OH national conference
