Can you eat cereal after gastric bypass?

I did pick up Special K-Cinnamon Pecan & can tell you that it really didnt agree with me (I think i might have dumped). I added a very small amt of skim milk & was in the bathroom for about 3 hrs later (and I only ate about 1/2 cup)
I'm at 4 mths post-op, and think it might have just been too soon

If I eat cereal in the morning, I tend to get very sleepy. Comatose-like sleepy. Can't keep my eyes open. Do you like yogurt? Especially at this time of year when there are so many great berries and fruits, I have yogurt with fresh fruit for breakfast. I generally will sprinkle on a little bit of grape-nuts for crunch, and/or some raw almonds. That way, you get a little crunchy cereal, but not so much that it makes you sleepy.

For me - NO.
Most cereals have too high of a carbohydrate count to bother, and unless I can hold myself to a 1/4 cup serving, it's not going to happen.
If I even think about adding dairy milk - forget it - I might as well just set up camp around the toilet and then go to bed.
Even whole grain cereals like Kashi cause serious reactions - so - I've all but given up on them. I can have a taste - or a sprinkle - but NEVER, EVER A BOWL or A WHOLE SERVING or with MILK.
I am four and a half years out and cereal is still hit or miss with me. If I can eat it, I use Kashi Go Lean, or Special K Protein cereals and Lactaid milk since I developed mild lactose intolerence after my RNY. I have found that the Special K bodes better in my stomach when I get it down. Otherwise, I feel uncomfortable on my off days, so I don't eat cereal that much because it is not worth feeling like that to me.
