Sad

I hate to be one of those people that needs a cyber-hug or a pat on the back but man, I am one!  The last two days I have been so sad.  I feel like a failure.  I feel like the surgery isn't working or isn't working right.  I've lost 52 pounds (including 14 preop) so I should be happy, right?  I'm only losing a pound here and a pound there and I'm scared that all the quick weight loss is gone.  I know that we have stalls, but I do lose every couple of days a pound.  It just seems like the scale goes up 1 lb and down one and I never actually get anywhere.  I introduced a couple of carbs and did ok on them, maybe that is the problem.  I never get over 600 calories/day (my nut's suggestion).  I'm not good about working out (never have been) but have started walking and playing the Wii Fit.  I just feel like I'm going to lose like 5 more pounds and that is it and I failed the surgery and I'm mad and sad.  I know it's hormones and it will get better but someone just tell me I'm wrong.  I need to hear from people with experience!

you and I started with about the same amount to lose. at 6 weeks out I had only lost 36 lbs or so. Simcat, you are kicking butt! Here is my unasked for opinion: either: 1. chart your weight on fitday so you can look at the reports showing how much you have lost for the last week, month, etc.. 2. don't weigh as often. when you weigh every day you don't get the big WOW! I was anal about weighing every day when i started cause I wanted to know my body's pattern. I'm like a lot of folks on here. Nothing for 3 weeks, then boom, be warned it may happen to you You just aren't feeling it cause you are seeing it in tiny little increments. Holy weight loss woman you are kicking butt! The other thing I did was go to my surgery month board (up at the top, you can change it from June to May ) There will be a smaller group posting there but you'll find you hit stalls at the same time, can give each other food ideas, etc. Personally, I think you are a fast loser so cheer up, you are doing great! We all lose at different rates but if you keep eating right, drinking tons of water, and exercising, you are gonna lose.  now, ditch the scale! (and if you can't bring yourself to do it, chart it on fitday) sorry this is so long judi

Thanks so much, Judi.  I think I will ditch the scale for awhile.  It seems like the same numbers anyhow.  I didn't figure it mattered whether I weighed everyday or every week, but I really dislike seeing the same numbers!   I do keep track of my weight on here and on mydailyplate.com so I will check it out and see if it makes me feel better, thanks for the idea!

Ok you are 6 weeks out I'm 5 1/2 months out and you are within 12 lbs of my weight loss.  Please give yourself a break you are doing super fantastic.   When in any previous diet have you lost this amount of weight in this period of time.   I'm a slave to the scale and I hope to change that habbit. I'd love to be one of those people who only weigh weekly or monthly.  Its an evil tool  ; )  Take care and breathe .. the surgery is working. Maria

THanks, Maria.  It feels like I'm lying to myself and just pretending the scale is moving.  I know it sounds stupid, but I don't know what's wrong with my head!  I keep thinking I still weigh 288 or 260 and then when I stop and think, holy cow, I'm down to 236, I feel better but don't believe it.  IT's weird.

This happens to all of us.. even being early out. You are losing.. your pouch is working. Just give it time. My nut told me - if you are going to weigh yourself every day, you've got to realize the scale may not move, or you might gain a pound.. and then suddenly you'll lose. It's just a cycle. You've already lost 52 lbs in such a short time! Be proud of your accomplishments so far!!

Wondering if you're feeling normal?? I blog about everything!! Check my page out for more!

Judi and the others have given you some great advice and words of encouragement. I have a question for you - WHAT KIND OF CARBS have you added to your diet?  I would encourage you to avoid carbs (other than good for you veggies and fruits) as long as possible. The more carbs you eat, the more you want.  That has been my experience. Best of luck to you on this journey! ~wendy
