Help psch eval says im crazy
Hey I went for my psch eval and admitted that sometimes I binge eat but I told her it's just cause I like to taste a lot of different things at once sometimes. I dont make myself throw up or eat where no one can see me I did admit sometimes i feel bad about eating so much at once but does that make me crazy? I'm not depressed at least I dont feel like it and I don't eat like that when I'm sad in fact a barely eat at all when I'm really sad. What's up did anyone else go through this
Therapy is a wonderful thing, especially when you have big changes coming up in your life and you will be taking a coping mechanism away from yourself. I highly recommend it for just about everyone going through WLS, even if it's just a couple "tuneup" sessions when the buyer's remorse phase sets in :-).
I second the motion to find another doc. I admitted in my psych evaluation that I was bulimic for over 10 years & that I NEVER EVER admitted it to anyone. I also told her that I binge (like 1/2 an entermans cake at once) cuz I just cant stop. I also went over all the diets I've been on & discussed my homelife & how I had a supportive family & was approved.

I missed the part that you mention he said he wanted you to see a therapist...if that is all - then later today make an appt to see a therapist. Easy Peasy place to start. I think most psych's will disapprove due to someones state of mind (like serious depression), not that they have a mild eating disorder. I'm guessing most people here have one sort of eating disorder or another...or else they wouldnt be 100+ lbs overweight, right?

Wiat, did he say you are crazy? Frankly, most people who are MO have some disordered eating habits. How else do they think we became MO? MO is a complex DISEASE!
So, what else did he say? Do you have to go back for more counseling? If so, my recommendation is to go and learn some new coping skills. WLS does not make the desire to taste a lot of different things at once go away, it just can make you feel miserable if you attempt to do it.
A dear friend refused to go for counseling when it was recommended and therefore lost her chance at WLS. For want of 6 measley sessions, she is still MO 5 years later and more miserable and sicker than ever.
