You’ve been discriminated against something you have no control over. I think you need a better Attorney. It looks like Lisa Madigan is the Attorney General for your state. You seriously need to have a word with her office.

As Mare said above-DEVROM.  It worked for me!  Not perfectly, but helped a LOT!  My kids were so thankful.  Good Luck and maybe a public bathroom down the street at the next job?  I DO NOT agree with this of course, but if there is no legal recourse, this may be the only answer, sadly.  I can't believe the law isn't on your side, this is a medical issue!!  Hang in there!  Lori

Sounds ghetto... but if you light a match, real quick (like 10 seconds) ... then blow it out, and run it under water to thoroughly extingui**** It helps kill the smell...  Then spray some OUST and youre good.  LOL Its ghetto, but it works.... try it at home.

You didnt mention how long are your shifts, what days you work??  Cant you hold it until break time and go at a gas station? Oust works great, courtesy flush, and Beano (to help w/ gas).

Because of the malabsorption, both RNYers and DSers poop is smellier than non-ops -- but there are things that you can do to minimize the smell -- before it comes out your butt!   Yes, there are 'cover ups' but it's easier to take a pill a couple times a week. If your 'bathroom breaks' are that smelly, then you most likely have a bacterial overgrowth.  See your doctor about taking a round of Flagyl or maybe some daily probiotics or enzymes will do the trick. I did a 10-day course of Flagyl and now take it 3x a week.  I have virtually no gas and my poop hardly smells at all. Let me know if you need more info on the Flagyl, you can get it without an RX.

Here is a link to a discussion on the DS board: Topic: I need flagyl bad!! Help Lots of info regarding the use of Flagyl and how to order it w/o an RX.  Carolyn is an RN and has posted links to research papers... just lots of good info.

I never did try the Devrom because it seems that 1/2 the time it doesn't work, where as people who take Flagyl just love the stuff.
Please let me know if I can help any more.

Tell me about it ..  !    My last firm (was with them since almost their beginning, 15 years ago) eventually even forbid me from using the restroom in our building, b/c mostly the sec. complained about the smells coming from it.       I had to go down the street to a fastfood restaurant in my car in a hurry if I had to use it during work hours.     The stress eventually caused a mutual break up of me from the firm, quite understandably.  I had gotten almost zero-producitve the last 2 or 3 months b/c I was so ill-at-ease while there ...    The best control for such smells is, of course, diet .. avoiding simple carbs and processed sugars and white flour products (and fats, if an RNYer).    You can also help things by taking Devrom tables OTC, 2-6 a day, an internal deoderant ... (in fact, I just got a re-order in today) ..  Regular use of probiotics like Culturelle, as well as the antibiotic Flagyl, can also help keep down the bad bacteria in your gut that digests sugars and accounts for the smells..        When i was working at the last firm I never really found an effective store-bought spray for the smell when things got really bad.     I used to use Medi-Aire (the lemon-scented variety), but the secretary then complained about the lemon smell around the place all the time (go figure)  ..  Some "stinkers" also use Ozium spray, or a product that you drip into the toilet bowl before using, called "Just A Drop" ...  I remember once I walked in to our building and the secretary was burning an incense burner outside my office door (like an opium den)  ugh ..     ::hint hint::  ..   Since then, I've found the only real effective cover up for me is the one-two punch of keeping a spray bottle filled with cider vinegar near the john.  As soon as you flush, give it a couple of sprays into the bowl.  That neutalizes the stool smell and replaces it with a vinegary aroma.  You can then spray your regular room odor eliminator (such as Neutra Air (Lysol)) to neutralize and replace the vinegar smell.      Iwish I had discovered that technique back before I left the firm!     Good luck to you ..

Okay, you're a year and a half out.  You should know what causes the major stink by now and know better to eat accordingly.  PAY ATTENTION to how food affects you.  If you do hair, then your schedule is flexible.  You probably have a bathroom schedule by now, too, so plan your schedule around that.   Here are some other ideas to try. Flagyl is a narrow-spectrum anti-bioitic that you can get by prescription to kill off the overload of bacteria. Cipro is another one to try if you do indeed have C-diff. You'll want to follow this with a round of probiotics afterwards to get a colony of good bacteria going and build a better balance. Just a Drop, is a toilet deodorizer that you put in the toilet before you go.  I really like it. Ozium spray in the automotive dept.  Small can packs a huge punch on odor.  New Car Smell works best in my opinion.
