OK, so I live in the city, but it is a little hilly and rough terrain.   Three months ago I became ill and have been unable to go to the gym, but I discovered biking is easier for me than trying to walk.  I am so excited.  AND I will save a ton of gas by biking instead of driving.   I went for a test ride today and had so much fun!!!!   Jenn

I went to a real bike shop and explained to the owner what I wanted to do with the bike.  He even changed the tires for me so I wouldn't feel so much of the road.  He based it as well on my height and delivered it to my home!!!!  I traded in three bikes I previously owned. Jenn

Wow..50 miles, that sounds awesome.  I bought a Raleigh, it is a Mojave 2.0 .  I really am pleased with it for the purpose that I will be using it.  I hope to wear the tires out this summer.  Keep us posted on the progress of your 50 mile ride....kudos to you!!! Jenn

ok...so I've been wanting toget a bike but at 260 lbs I'm afraid I'm too heavy, and too embarassed to go to a bike shop and ask about if they even have one to support my weight. Do they? I tried online searches but it gets too confusing. Paulette

Paulette, I rode mine at 290 with no problems. I bought an inexpensive used bike a few years ago, to use until I had surgery. Two weeks ago, I bought a new mountain bike since I'm down 40% of excess weight already. My used bike was from goodwill and cost me $15.

Thanks for the answer, I love this site...everyone is always so helpful.  I have my "old" bike at my mother's in Wisconsin. Maybe I can just get new tires since it has been sitting up in the garage for like 20years...LOL, Thanks again, Paulette
