Hey,  Just wanted to let you guys know that Lisinopril can apparently cause hair loss.  Major hair loss!  I lost about 1/4 to 1/3 of my hair recently from taking my blood pressure medication Lisinopril.  I stopped taking it because of this and now my hair is growing back slowly but surely.  I was not aware of this side effect of the medication when I started taking it, but I know of 2 others who had the same symptoms.    So anyway, just an FYI.  If you have high blood pressure, like me (surprise) then be careful with Lisinopril.   Ciao for now, Regan

Sounds weird to me Regan, I've been on Lisinopril for years, and have never shown signs of hair loss. Of course, I'm not a foxy momma of two boys, but still you would think I would show some of those symptoms. I hope you saw your doctor about getting a rplacement BP medication. Fred

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

yea, we have discussed it but I am gun shy at the moment.  I cannot afford any new symptoms like that!  I realize medication affects everyone different!  I just wanted to get the word out there. Thanks for the kudos... you are a sweetie!

Hmmmm!  I have hair loss and take lisinopril, I always blame my hair loss on my thyroid, I am going to have to talk about this to my dr.  Thanks for the info.

**** Geee, I've been on lisinopril for over 8 yrs and have not had hair loss. This the first time I've heard this. I checked out the side effects and didn't see hair loss. I'll have to ask my Dr. about it. Thanks for sharing. Millie

Ive been on it a while for kidney disease.  It hasnt caused any hairloss for me.  I also never saw that as a side effect of it on the papers they gave me with it or after searching on here. My major hairloss is from my gastric bypass.

I totally understand.  People react differently to all meds, but this one definitely caused major and rapid hair loss on my end.  I hope it will help others who may be experiencing the same thing... as it is possible the drug company should update this as a rare side effect.

Hair loss with ACE inhibitors like lisinopril is one of those unpredictable side effects that can't be easily predicted from its pharmacological actions.  But a small number of people do experience such side effects, even if they're uncommon across the board. /Steve

Hi Reagan, Im so glad I found your comment. I have been losing my hair for about a year. No one in my family has ever been bald and I thought it was probably some rare form of cancer or something about to rear its ugly head and the hair loss was just a pre-symptom. I stopped my lisinopril. How long does it take for your hair to stop falling out? I can be patient on grow back, I just want it to stop falling out at this point. Thanks. Luke
