PROTEIN SHAKES TOO SWEET

My low carb protein shake is tooo sweet, even after adding a great deal of water and ice before blending.  I can't tolerate it.  I know that I am not having enough protein and I am tried and weak.  Are there any suggestions that I can supplement.  I am on pureed/soft foods now and I not comfortable with tyring blended tuna and chicken, it comes out like form.  How gross!!  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ive always had trouble with protein drinks.  The ones I like are New Whey, Whey Force and isopure.  I also took paleopack and its definately not sweet.  Good luck!! JEss

I have always had trouble with my protein and I'm sure that is why I'm so lathargic all the time. I decided since I had to find something that I was going to try mixing my protein powder with ice/water & 1 pkg of sugar free instant breakfast. It's actually pretty good. I like the strawberry one the best and I'm not a strawberry flavor type person. Try it and see what you think. I use a concentrated protein powder I got from Clarks Nutrition. They do have a website you can order it if there isn't a store in your area. It's not as heavy as the other types I've tried. Good Luck!

I have the same problem. I use unflavored Unjury in my morning coffee. My other protein, I only use half of the protein called for in milk with a serving of nonfat dry milk. It adds protein and cuts a little of the sweet. Unjury also makes a chicken soup flavor. I haven't tried it yet but I hear some say they really love it. Good luck!

I also had that problem with protein drinks. Most of them were too sweet for me to gag down. I have found that the isopure ones are not. The dutch chocolate and the strawberry were both very tolerable without the cloying sweetness found in other protein drinks.

I didn't like the newWhey "test tubes" at first because they are bitter, but I got one at GNC that you could buy seperate ( you didn't have to buy a whole case). It really looks like a fat test tube(3.1 oz) and it has about 45 grms of protein in it. I got the fruit punch flavor, mixed about an ounce of it with ice, crystal light, and water, about 8 or 6 ounces total, and it was pretty good, not too sweet and not too bitter. So, you might try that, just check out GNC, or NewWhey.

I had the same thing but had spent so much on them I didn't want to get rid of them.  Instead I bought non sweetened soy milk and made my shakes with them.  The bitter of the non sweet soy and the sweet of the protein powders even out very well.  My other savoir was chocolate Unjury it's about the only one that I could tolerate not being too sweet.  It gets easier!   Good Luck!

If you water them down too much, you wont get the full effect.  Thats what happened to me, and I ended up with insomnia from protein deprivation.

Try Isopure drinks, New Whey protein bullets and Pro-Stat liquid protein, which you can dilute with alittle water or a sugerfree drink...to cut the syrupy taste.  But try to get your protein in straight shots, or youll be getting nothing at all.
