Hey all, So I have been jogging/running for the last 2 months regularly today I did 4.2 miles in 45 minutes which I feel is great considering I weighed in at 240 lbs. 5 months ago... Well, here is the problem I am having as of this week... I have discomfort in my bladder and feels like I need to urinate (more like a pain in that area) which I know I don't cause I go to the restroom before I run but this has become very uncomfortable and frustrates me.. Is this something that happens to anyone else???? Is it something normal for women???? Thanks for your help... Lois

I've been running for the past 4 years and triathloning for the next 2.  I've never gotten nor heard of that type of pain. When you get it, do you try to urinate? Do you only get the pain WHILE running? I've never gotten pain there... I say get checked out by your PCP or OB.

First of all congrats on your 4.2 miles in 45mn, that's impressive, you truly put me to shame as I still can't do a full 5k at 186lbs... I'm also a beginner runner. I had this "must pee" problem yesterday as a matter of fact, it made it really hard for me to keep going. When I did pee it wasn't a flood or anything, so why did it feel like such an urgent need? So I wonder if things are getting loose in the tummy area? I plan on paying attention to that next time I run and if it happens again ask my surgeon. Doesn't it feel wonderful to be able to run at all though?! I love it!

Hey!!!! I love being able to run its the most enjoyable feeling Its sometimes hard to explain to someone if they don't run but I'm sure you get it! I feel so good after a run there is nothing like it. Although this week has been a challenge I think you could be right with the weight loss we have so quickly I think it plays a part to the discomfort i am feeling. I also think its due to my periods... Uggggg I have cramps today and I am due to get it in about 8 days... Sooooooo hummmmm could that be the problem. Oh well have a great day and thanks for your reply KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. before you know it you'll be doing a 5K too!!!!!! Hugs, lois

I have the same issue., I can empty my bladder and head out for my walk/run. 10 minutes into it, I feel like I have to go. No way would I need to! At my last GYN appt I brought it up. We talked about causes and issues and his suggestion was to try using a tampon. Use a super tampon and insert it so it is just in but not all the way like you would normally.  umm without getting into too many details for the men here, - ok, put it in, just in but so none of it is sticking out - got it?  LOL somehow that seems to help a bit. And Of course dont forget to take it out when you get back home.
