have the flu! What to take? (THAT WORKS!) Nyquil?

i'm used to being sick, and taking nyquil to knock me out. I know there's no aspirin or anything for pain except acetaminophen, but also has the alcohol in it.... I've tried the tylenol severe two days now...it's not doing anything! What works for you? I need to be better before Tuesday, I'm going back to Cincinnati for two weeks for work! :(  HELP!

I'm sorry that you're sick but wanted to give you a "heads up".  I had what I thought was the flu, 2 days of 102+ fever and feeling like I was road kill.  Ok, Dr. gives me Tamiflu...on in a million get an allergic reaction...yes that would be me.  I blew up like a balloon and couldn't breathe.  This does NOT mean that everyone is allergic but it FINALLY TAUGHT me to check the warning labels on any drug that I take.  It took about 22 days to get over whatever this crud was.  I hope you feel better and are on the way to feeling well again. susan

Advil cold and flu helps with me and lots of fluids. Dont forget Eucolypus oil for the vapoizer.

Nyquil has lots of sugar in it. I called the toll free number on the bottle to get the exact amount.  That, and the amount of alcohol made it very clear to me that Nyquil was no longer my BFF when sick.  I used Afrin or Sinex Nasal Spray (be very careful with nasal sprays not to over use them), and regular sudafed that I would cut up with my pill cutter.  I also took plain old tylenol (go tabs or pills cut in quarters).  It got me through. I  have done the Tylenol severe cold and also NyQuil. Nyquil helps me less most the time and makes me feel drunk. I hope you feel better soon. You can try sinus rinses too they help a great deal usually.
