How did you meet your mate?

I forgot to add that I have a lot of dating experience, but I was through with dating. I wasn't looking..and that's when it happened. Of course, that's in the days before online dating, etc. My sister-in-law is doing that thing...been engaged twice to 2 different men, both of whom went back to their ex-wives. She hangs out in a chat room for 40+ with kids. She's desperate, and she's settling for something that she normally wouldn't settle for, but her standards have never been that high anyway. Her current man wants to marry her too (they see her as a sugar mama since she works at the local country club in her city), but they are waiting until her son graduates from high school because he hates the boyfriend and doesn't want to move to Arkansas. His mom's never been married...the poor kid is a product of a man lying to my SIL about his marriage status and vasectomy..sigh.. Moral to all the stories is that you don't lower your standards, and you don't beat yourself up. The right man will come along when you least expect it, and he won't care what size you ever have been in your life. Just be you. I know it's frustrating, but mine happened when I'd given up on men for awhile.

I met my hubby through a dating service (kiss.com).  A friend of mine made me fill out a profile just for fun, so I did.  I met Kevin and we chatted on line for a long while, then finally on the phone and after a few months in person.   He came over for our first date and he never left!  We always joke that we are still on our first date.  We'll be married 5 years in July.  We are like two peas in a pod, so mu*****ommon.  Don't underestimate meeting a guy online where you discover personality first, then looks, instead of the other way around.  I think that is how it should be.  Besides, you can't beat getting to know a guy sitting in your pjs and not worrying how you look lol! Check out kiss.com and set up a profile!  If my friend never pushed me to fill one out, I would have never met my hubby!  IT is worth a try, right.  I am sure you will have no problem meeting a nice guy with your bubbly and witty  personality.  Good luck and keep us posted!

I met my husband on myspace in January 2006..He was over in Iraq at the time. he was searching for people in his hometown and found my profile. well i've always been a avid supporter in our troops and in my hero section i had mentioned that my hero were our troops and I had a pic of a flag too...well he emailed me telling me "Thank you for your support" then it went from there with emails. He wasn't do to come home until December...he called me about 6 months into us speaking through emails...well over the course of getting to know one another in emails I fell for him HARD...He came home in December and it felt like a scene out of a movie...he was due to come home December 16th however he got in December 15th (I had no idea) I went to a local bar with my GF's that night and low and behold we ran into each other (we had no idea either or us would be there Heck i didn't even know he was home) It was an amazing night I'll never forget...We'll we were together ever since and 8 months later we eloped and he's now back in Iraq on his 2nd deployment....We're doing an actual wedding next May...

I used it a while back before I got married and met several really nice men, Just wasnt the right guy yet though. But I met my DH online while talking to his sis-in law in a yahoo chat room. we've been happily married for 3 1/2 yrs so far.

I stalked my husband at the cheesiest dance club.  I watched him all night, and finally, towards the end of the night, I walked up to him on the dance floor and said "Show me your tatoos!"  Worked like a charm!!

Hi Sarah, I was married for 27 years, then divorced, long story short I was replaced by a computer. But...God seems to always watch out for me, one of my male best friends for over 20 years, well anywho his brother was going through a divorce and we all went out for dinner, in my mind I thought it was just friends getting together, I have met Bob's brother a few times so I knew who he was just didn't know him as a person, he picked up the dinner tab (I was gonna pay my share) and he told me to put my $ away, this is a date! HA! We have been inseperable ever since, we had our first year date anniversay on the 20th of this month, I'm now engaged to this wonderful man. Oh yeah, he started dating me 3 weeks before my RNY, he came to see me everyday in the hospital, I was in for 5 days since I was a revision, he was supportive and continues to be supportive in my weight loss journey. I'm now going to be a step mom and a grandma, I think the wedding will be in July if not before. This man is my true soul mate.  You get out there and start dating, go out dancing and have fun.

I met my DB of 3-1/2 years through eHarmony.  I had no idea where in the world to look for a mate and was never into the bar scene so thought I'd give it a chance.  I didn't put up my photo figuring the guys who are so focused on looks I didn't want.  I ended up talking to three guys regularly, with my Michael being one of them.  I found he and I had so mu*****ommon.  Eventually I did send him my photo and the rest is history.  At 330 lbs he saw ME and not my weight.  Now that's what I call a wonderful and amazing man.  It still amazes me that not only did I find my best friend, but the love of my life.

I met mine at a highschool dance 27 years ago.  We dated for a year, broke up and then began dating again 3 years later while in university.  We've been married 22 years and have two beautiful daughters.
