I met hubby outside of a bar...we were both there with friends, but had taken refuge outside to get away from the cigarette smoke. We laughed and talked, but I didn't really think much about it, but over the next week, we exchanged emails and telephone calls (he'd keep me up talking until 2 am, and then call me at 7 to make sure I wasn't late for work). We've now been together for almost 9 years, married for almost 4.
Ironically, I met hubby about two days after I had one of those nekkid-in-front-of-the-mirror moments where I examined myself closely and declared I wouldn't date myself...it wasn't reasonable to expect anyone else to want to date me. You just never know.
I would sooo date myself....I'm fun to be around, super cute, funny, love to try new things, can cook, would go to a sporting event...would let you go out with your friends....

Sarah - I met my husband .... online! I joined Match.com well over 6 years ago, and he was one of the ones that the site deemed "highly compatible"....and he was! I sent a little hi type message and he responded back. It progressed to long phone calls and I felt like I had known him my whole life before we met in person. I consider myself SO lucky, because I didn't have much luck in the dating world prior to meeting Michael. Take your time, and eventually someone will respond or send YOU a little note. I can tell you from first hand experience that you might get some no's but there WILL be yes's - and maybe that one special yes that will become the love of your life.
I picked up my husband at a country western bar. I thought he was cute and bought him a beer and we will be celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary in October of this year.
Take a dance class, like ballroom dancing....exercise and maybe meet someone.
Or how about checking out some of the activities at your local park district or taking a class at a local community college.
