Pet Peeve - anyone else?
While I am happy that people off all sorts of backgrounds and opportunities can post and share on these forums, I will admit that I probably make a few judgments about people who have poor grammar.
Although I notice the poor grammar or simple spelling mistakes I'm not bothered by the posts. I think that the forum is a better place for being inclusive, but I am bothered BY MY OWN FAILURES when I become judgmental. Then I start to wonder about what sorts of things *I* do (unwittingly, unknowingly, unintentionally) that irritate everyone else or cause them to judge me unfairly. I certainly know that my weight has caused me to be judged unfairly, so I just take a deep breath and try to discern the meaning of the post. If, however, the grammar is so bad that I cannot decipher it, I just move on to the next thread.

I get so annoyed when: You hold a door open for someone and they don't bother thanking you or at least making eye contact and giving a quick nod. Someone leaves the cap off the toothpaste.
No one say anything frivolous for the next few moments. I am having a significant experience. ~ Vida Boheme (To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar)
I was a linguistics major and teach English, so you can imagine how often my skin crawls at some of the things I read. It takes no longer to type a word correctly than it does to type it incorrectly. Sometimes it's a matter of a simple post such as this for those to have a light bulb moment and say to themselves, "Oh, NOW I get it!"
