Wait staff aren't quite sure about how to deal with us or if there's something else going on. I handled this by simply telling them I had recently had gastric bypass surgery and could not eat much. That usually stopped the questions and the frequent visits. If you're not comfortable doing that, perhaps you can ask for a takeout box when your meal is delivered, then pack up what you don't think you'll be able to eat. Then it won't appear to the server that you aren't eating anything. Also, keep in mind that the server is doing their job; if a customer doesn't appear to be eating their food, a good server will make sure everything is okay. I agree that coming back again and again to see if you're done is a bit much, but they really are trying to be helpful.... Kellie

The scale can measure the weight of my body but never my worth as a woman. ~Lysa TerKeurst author of Made to Crave
I always tell the waiter/waitress to bring a "to go " box when they bring my entree'. I let them know up front that the servings are just too generous and I'll eat half the next day. That heads off the comments.
I don't tell them about my surgery... none of their business.
Good luck in the future... we need all the tricks/coping techniques we can round up.
