Man kicked out of buffet for eating too much? Discrimination?

I find this story hard to believe.  I mean come on, like the server really said that to him.  I think he probably was abusing the buffet.   And as the story goes FAT PEOPLE DO NOT BELONG AT BUFFETS it's only asking for trouble anyway.  I've only been a few times and I've seen people stack their plates up so high and keep going back and back and back.  What do you expect?  I have no sympathy!

Honestly - you may have a point about the guy maybe just trying to weasel out of paying a bill - BUT: I have to mention another thing w/regard to fat people at buffets.  If you REALLY look closely at what people are taking and the different trips they make - it's not usually the obese people who are getting up to get the most food - it's primarily the more moderately overweight, middle-of-the-road folks who do so.  And this guy sounds like he fits that bill.  It defies logic, but that's what I notice.  Maybe it's the denial thing, they're not "that" big yet, so they think they're entitled to splurge, who knows...And there's always one glaring exception, otherwise the comedians jokes wouldn't get any laughs...but I say that because - as a SMO person - my problem wasn't being out of control with my eating at restaurants and buffets.  At most - I'd only get up for seconds OR a dessert, and that was it.  I was acutely aware that I was a large person eating at a buffet and there's nothing more effective to curb your appetite than that kind of awareness among strangers....  Where I did my damage was every other point in the day.   Maybe others would have a different take on that, but that's been my p.o.v. - I was never the "threat" to a buffet that other people might have thought I was, seeing me walk in the door.

You know what YOU'RE RIGHT!  Now come to think of it, yeah I can totally see that.  I'm in the same boat as you even thought I don't know what a SMO is.  I knew I was a large person eating at a buffet and felt like everyone was watching me so I didn't eat as much.

Who doesn't go to the buffet for the good stuff?  It's unreasonable to think that a person shouldn't or wouldn't dine on these items exclusively.  The problem is arbitrary treatment...mngmnt should have had a CLEAR policy on costs associated with including the crab/frog legs.  Most chinese buffets charge extra when seafood is available, whether you eat it or not!  I love steamed blue crabs, oysters, and shrimp...if I go to a buffet serving any or all of them, THAT'S what I'm eating!  Granted I can't eat very much of them, but I wish somebody would come over talking about I have to pay more money 'cuz I didn't eat any fried chicken or wonton soup!   P.S.-those cheaper places are always slow to bring out the better items and they only bring enough for about 6 at a time anyway, so they have a lot more control than they want people to think.  I'd rather pay good money for a place with good, CLEAN service that prides themselves on customer satisfaction--you can only keep people with low prices for so long!

About 25 yrs ago, a few of the college football team members, would go to a buffet on Saturdays & were asked not to come back.  Just kinda cracked me up, they went back to their Captain Crunch.  It does bother me tho, when you see people LOAD up plates for kids & then just waste it. They could'a just gone back for more.
