I need to lose about 2 more pounds for a normal BMI .  I still seem to be slowly losing at over 2 yrs out...so may get there yet.

Amy,  I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I never met you or your dad, but someone on the DS board posted the news. I went to your dad's blog and read through it. It sounds like he was a special guy who loved his kids, grandkids and wife. He set out a goal of being 390 pounds pre-surgery and he got there through hard work. I admire that. I hope he's in Heaven, free as a bird and riding a Harley. I lost my dad almost 7 years ago now, and it's still hard. At first it may be hard for you to understand how the world can just keep on spinning when something so horrible just happened to you and your family. But it gets slightly better with time. I'm so sorry you have to experience this pain. My condolences,  Nicolle

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!
