This doesn't surprise me one bit.  The original surgeon, I was looking to use, has VERY Little info on his profile.  He is a great surgeon and would recommend him to anybody.  But now ,the surgeon I'm most likely using, has lots of info on here!  And I believe he pays a little something.

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

My stats:
Starting weight 234 lbs    Height 5 ft 6 in
Goal in 7 months (127 lbs)
Currently: 120-123 lbs

Seems as though Oh Aych has listened to us complain, too.  I could care less than my doctor had advertised here - anyone with a ad budget and a grand could advertise.  Why are we picking our surgeons based on a PAID PLACEMENT anyway? I never once looked at my doc's profile here - nor did they promote it at the Obesity Clinic.

Gotta remember Obesity Help is NOT a non-profit organization. It is out to make money just as any other business is. Otherwise Obesity Help would NOT have lasted as long as it has. Just look at the websites address... it has DOT COM.... not dot org. It is a commercial business. Someone has to pay salaries for the founder of OH and all the actual business/technical people.

Hey, it all boils down to the almighty dollar!!

Thanks Paul. Cross post to the guys? My surgeon is one listed here, But I didn’t know that until after the fact. One of the reasons I also keep membership at an actual “Non-Profit” Site that is a “Peer-to-Peer” exchange Message Board. I have always been supportive of OH. There have been a number of times over the last 4 years Where the dollar has spoken louder than the membership. We are not “the clients.” We, and our demographic uniqueness, Are the product being sold to advertisers. Fortunately, We get to swap experiences By sharing our info on such Message Boards. I’m glad that there are some that don’t have a financial agenda, Just open exchange of information. Best Wishes- Dx

I think the best advice any of us can give to those looking for a surgeon is to refer them to American Society for Metobolic and Bariatric Surgery (www.asbs.org).  I used this website to find my surgeron and cross checking with my in-network providers.  I also believe that we need to also express that it would be wise that they interview potential surgeons to see which one they best feel comfortable with. It is sad that OH has gone to this, but I do understand that they need to make money.  With that said, I just wish that they would prescreen requests to advertise, or be added to the physicians list to make sure that the quality and not quantity is there. I guess in the end we should take heed of the warning "Buyer Beware"

"I just wish that they would prescreen requests to advertise, or be added to the physicians list to make sure that the quality and not quantity is there." Amen to that! I can rrecommend that anyone looking for a DS surgeon can find a very well prescreened listing at www.duodenalswitch.com .
