Hi Missie - I am no where near needing this work done yet, but I have the same insurance. So your question made me curious--have you contacted BCBS FEP, and they said they would not cover it? Thanks  vicki

I have Fed BCBS and they will pay to correct gross abnormalities.  But only tightening the skin not tightening the underlying muscles. Pat

Hi Marge I am interested to find out what kind of coding was required. BCBS will not precertify how do you get around that the plastic surgeon wants me to pay the $8000 up front. Did your PS accept assignment   What state are you in? Thanks Missie

I work for a Plastic Surgeon and we deal with all different types of insurances. Fed BC/BS will cover. The one key element here is in order for your insurance to cover the surgery make sure you see your PCP and start documenting any rashes or chafing that you may have. Many time we just take care the problem ourself, because we are just too embrass to show it to anyone. But it's really important that you show your insurance company that you are been followed by a Dr. for your problem. Many insurances will ask you for 3 months of conservative treatment. Get enough documents as you can. If you need to see a chiroparator for back pains due to the excess skin that hangs in front of your pannus do that as well. The more you have to send to your insurance the better. Hope this information helped.
