Oh Sarah, I am sorry you are having such a hard time.  I looked at your profile, and it looks like your BMI is heading toward the normal range, so you obviously have done something right.  Be proud of how far you have come. I am a lousy dieter & love my carbs too.  It really helps me to plan ahead & have lots of high protien snacks available that are VISIBLE.  I agree with getting rid of the junk.  It is better for the kiddos too. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life.  You deserve this.  Get back on track.  You can do it & we are here for you.

Youve gotten some really good advice, but I was also thinking if sweets seem to be your downfall why dont you try a good sweet substitute such as a protein bar.  Some of them taste just like candy bars.  Target has one called Twisted that is just like a Take five bar.  You know, with the gooey chocolate, carmel and pretzel inside. I take the gummy vitamins too.  I think theyre ok, but ya dont need 8 a day!  LOL  I like the calcium chews, but if you didnt like the chocolate try the lemon.  I didnt think Id like that flavor but I do.  They dont taste as "mediciny" for some reason. You can also bake cookies and sweets with splenda, or make a cheesecake type dish with ricotta cheese and SF cheesecake pudding powder. One step at a time.  You can do it!!!! Mary

Sarah - did you know that calcium can help to ease the symptoms of PMS?  PMS, as you know, can cause you to want to eat lots of stuff like carbs.  I remember I'd always go buy a bag of sour cream and onion chips at the start of PMS.  Now - I hear ya on the calcium.  I couldn't stand the Viactiv-type chews and I hated taking the horse pills.  Have you tried the Citrical Creamy Bites?  I've been eating the Lemon ones -- I actually LIKE them!  Give them a try.  They have calcium citratre plus D and I'll bet they'll help your PMS symptoms.  Once you get those under control, you can work on the carbs.  Best wishes! Linda

Sarah!!! You've done so well so far - a 53 lbs loss is great! You can't stop mid-stream!  I know its hard when you still have to feed the fam and can't get rid of the snacks... but just try to remember those habits that got here in the first place.  The vitamins are important and you need to f/u with your labs.  Think about the posts from people who have become malnourished by not taking care of themselves.  React... call the Doc tomorrow and make your appts.  Tomorrow is another day...  focus on your objectives and remember why you had this surgery.  Do it!!! Sarah..why are you sabotaging yourself sister?  You afraid to be thin? We all have something we carry with us..fears, etc.    Call and schedule your last set of appts.  Do it tomorrow.  While your add it, get an appt with your Nut. the same day. You are worth taking care of you.   They make smaller vits now you can swallow.they dont all have to be horse pills. Start your morning with a protein shake.  If you can eat chicken.. try having a small ammt every 3 or 4 hours.   When you keep your protein up, you wont crave the sugar/carbs. When i carb out.. Its circular.   Chocolate makes me want potatos, which makes me want to suck cinnamin candy..which makes me want more chocolate.. ohh now its too much sweets..i want salty potato chips to make me feel better  (get the picture?) Protein.. Protein, Protein.   Set an alarm and eat it. use Fitday.com and track it.  You going for your walks? Drinking your water? Go back to the basics of this program, whatever that means to you.   Get the crap out of your house.(seriously..if you keep your protein up.. even the stupid gummie bears dont sound good) Good luck Suzanne

I refuse to admit to anyone but myself what I ate yesterday, but it was BAD. So last night I was praying and realized that I was abusing a gift that God gave me, apologized, resolved to not abuse his gift, and asked for Him to help me.  I had quit journaling my food for a week, and things went downhill fast.  So I started that back up.  One thing at a time, but I'll be increasing my exercise when this stupid lab practicum is over on Wednesday. It's worked for me today (way below goal on calories), and all we can do is take it one day at a time.  I hope you can find what works for you.  At least you have realized what you are doing before it's too late.

Sarah , I don't dump , either . And I struggle with carb cravings . One thing is , carbs give me aweful gas . So , that's a good incentive to stay away . There is a powder calcium that Vita Lady sells . It's totally tasteless . I personally love the Citracal chews . They are great . I don't like flintstone vitamins , either & use the gummies . They have the same stuff in them , so no problem . You need other stuff , though . B-12  , E , etc...I happen to like fish & beef  . I don't do well w/chicken since surgery unless cooked in the crock pot .When I cook it , I cook extra & will eat it cold if I crave something . Protein is ver satisfying . Peanut butter in celery , yum . Sarah , you're human . Surgery wasn't a cure , unfortunatly . xoxox Kathy

Hi Sarah Just thought I would put my two cents in......seems to me to me to be suprising you can tolerate that cookies at this point. Your surgery was in July?? WOW! I am 4 years post-op (as of 10/7) and have been doing some struggling to not eat that stuff, but I absolutely couldn't for the first (at least) six-seven months after mine. I initially lost 130# but have gained 15 since this time last year. Life is pretty good now for me I can eat pretty much what I want but have been having issues with keeping my hemoglobin up whwer it should be. I actually just got home from have a blood transfusion today with a hgb. of 7.0 I told my Dr. I was always tired so he checked it. This is my second time in a year for a transfusion.  I need to be more dilligent in maintaining good health awareness and knowledge and remember I am not a "normal" person since the roux-en-y surgery. I know I am getting off the questions you have and I can only say take it one day, and maybe one hour at a time and remember that nobody can do it for you! You have to keep it in your mind that you are just as important as any member of your household and deserve only the best!  Don't let one day or even a few get you down, pick it up in the mornin' and hold your head high it WILL get better if YOU want it to.
