Songs that take you back

For some reason every summer I can't get that song Summer Girls by LFO out of my mind. AAAHHH!!! It just got stuck.
"Yeah...I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer
Do you remember...Remember when we met..That summer
N.K.O.T.B. had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer.
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer"
I'm really going to have to download this from iTunes. That way I can torture my kids with it.
Great post! Two songs make me think of being a kid at the beach (Cupsogue in WH on LI BTW) sitting in the sand eating a cherry flavored Marino's Italian Ice (yellow cup with the little wooden spoon).
"Little Jeanie" Elton John... Making the life that I had seem suddenly shiny and new... and
"Shining Star" The Manhattans... Darling, you are my shining star don't you go away...
TY for the blast from the past memory.

You're so right, I Chick. I grew up in NW Florida near Panama City, and we were just gone all day long on our bikes. Mom didn't have to worry about us being kidnapped by some pedophile back then. It was a good time to grow up. I used to watch those ABC afterschool specials, too. Loved them! Loved the Saturday morning cartoons, too. No cable at my house in those years, so we only saw cartoons on Saturday.
Do you remember Fruit Stripe gum, or Freshen-Up gum? I spent so much money on those two all year long at the local convenience store. Can't find them anymore! Just a '70s-'80s thing, I guess.
