To being kids in Summer when we were young. We always road tripped everywhere, and I remember my dad loading us up in the station wagon and we headed to Va to visit my family and the music was fabulous ( I LOVE 70's music) I'm listening to a 70's station online. Brandy (you're a fine girl) - Looking Glass Sister Goldenhair - America Saturday In the Park - Chicago So many others. What songs you do you remember from summers past when you were a kid? Summer was the best when we were kids! I Chick

I really crank up my little six speakers anytime KISS comes on the radio.  Only in the car though.  I just love LOUD rock in the car. Carla

OMG great tunes! How about...*In the Summertime* by Mungo Jerry?!?!?!! Such a naughty song hehehe
In the summer time when the weather is high You can chase right up and touch the sky, When the weather's fine You got women, you got women on your mind. Have a drink, have a drive Go out and see what you can find. If her Daddy's rich, take her out for a meal, If her Daddy's poor, just do what you feel. Scoot along the lake, do a town an' then return her twenty five. When the sun goes down You can make it, make it good and really fine. With a fat beat, when her Daddy with a me, We'll have everybody, but we do as we please. When the weather's fine, we go fishing or go swimming in the sea, We're always happy, Long's we're living in this sound philosophy. Sing along with us, dee dee dee dee dee Da da da da da, yeah we're hap-pap-py. Da da da dee da doo dee da dee da dee da da, Da da da da da, dee da da dee da da. When the wind is here, yeah it's party time, Bring your bottle waggin' back, 'cuz it will soon be summer time. And we'll signal a cab, we'll go driving or maybe we'll settle down, If she's rich, if she's nice, bring your friends and we'll all go into town. In the summer time when the weather is high You can chase right up and touch the sky, When the weather's fine You got women, you got women on your mind. Have a drink, have a drive Go out and see what you can find. If her Daddy's rich, take her out for a meal, If her Daddy's poor, just do what you feel. For some reason every summer I can't get that song Summer Girls by LFO out of my mind. AAAHHH!!! It just got stuck.

"Yeah...I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer
Do you remember...Remember when we met..That summer

N.K.O.T.B. had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer.
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer"

I'm really going to have to download this from iTunes. That way I can torture my kids with it.

Great post! Two songs make me think of being a kid at the beach (Cupsogue in WH on LI BTW) sitting in the sand eating a cherry flavored Marino's Italian Ice (yellow cup with the little wooden spoon).

"Little Jeanie"  Elton John... Making the life that I had seem suddenly shiny and new... and

"Shining Star" The Manhattans... Darling, you are my shining star don't you go away...

TY for the blast from the past memory.

You're so right, I Chick.  I grew up in NW Florida near Panama City, and we were just gone all day long on our bikes.  Mom didn't have to worry about us being kidnapped by some pedophile back then.  It was a good time to grow up. I used to watch those ABC afterschool specials, too.  Loved them!    Loved the Saturday morning cartoons, too.  No cable at my house in those years, so we only saw cartoons on Saturday.

Do you remember Fruit Stripe gum, or Freshen-Up gum?  I spent so much money on those two all year long at the local convenience store. Can't find them anymore!  Just a '70s-'80s thing, I guess.
