Thanks Traci for the kind words and for keeping up with my journey.  It's been slow, but it's all starting to rev up now.  I can hardly wait!

Thanks Bella!  Looks like your surgery date is the same as my psych eval--and that sure is coming fast!  *Happy dance for you too!*  I'll be thinking of ya and saying a special prayer that day.

Congrats on your surgery date. What kind of proactive work did you do with your dietician? I have had my consultation and they said nothing about a dietician yet. I am still in the process of getting stuff done like tomorrow I have an endoscopy.  I have Medi/Medi insurance too and they will cover all the surgery which is wonderful...so I have been told by my Surgeons office. The only thing I have to pay is a weeks hotel stay to remain close to the hospital for 5 days after surgery and $500 for the assisting surgeon.  I am wondering when do they start you with a dietician and nutritionist?

I think the dietician requirement will depend on your insurance requirement and what your surgeon wants you to do.  Here's my story: In my case (like so many others) I've been waiting for this surgery for a long time.  Last year when I had Medicaid for a brief time and I met with a surgeon who wanted to do a lap band first and then go back in and do an RNY later.  Thank goodness that didn't happen cause I'd just prefer one surgery thank ya! So after I lost my Medicaid my chance at the above surgeries was shot (which is a good thing in retrospect).  I lost the Medicaid, because I got approved for disability (a good thing and sometimes you can keep Medicaid too, but in my case the amount I got from my disability put me over income to qualify), so anykind of WLS became a waiting game until I would have Medicare coverage. Knowing that Medicare only pays 80%, and that I don't have the funds to handle the other 20% of all the costs associated with this surgery, I decided that I would have to purchase a supplemental insurance policy once I became Medicare eligible in April to cover most of the rest. With research I learned that although Medicare will pretty much cover the surgery with no approval needed as long as you meet the criteria...however, the supplemental insurance might require proof of medically supervised diet, and psych eval as well.  So, instead of sitting around and waiting and waiting and waiting with nothing else to do, I decided to go to my PCP and see the clinic's dietician to start working on that medically supervised diet history.  Glad that I did, cause my BC/BS policy I ended up purchasing does require that (per my surgeon's assistant).  So that's my story!  Now I just can't wait to be on that loser's bench!
