Please help me locate a dr. from 1999 that performed what he called was a gastric segmentation.  I am after 7 years having some complications and none of the current doctors that I speak to can understand the procedure that I had.  I am desparate to find this man's practice.  I believe the surgeon himself may have passed away but I am hoping that his practice has lived on somewhere.  If you have any information, please drop me an email or just reply here.  He was Marcel Molina and he worked out of Houston Texas.  If I could even remember the name of the hospital where the procedure took place I may be able to get the info I need from them.   Thank you for your time.

Gastric segmentation.  I believe that Dr. Oria is the only surgeon in Texas still performing that procedure.  He's done 1000's of them.  You can get his contact info from his profile here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+p rofile+Horacio+Oria+mn.html And I really wish you the absolute best of success in this!

Dr Molina died of Of cancer. I too had the band in 1990. Last year I had to undergo 8 hours of abdominal surgery to fix all the damage the band did to me. My ex-husband had to have the same surgery. Best of luck.

I had attended Dr Molinas seminar on the gastric banding. In 1983 I believe it was I had the surgery. I had no real problems except for eating too much or something that my stomach didn't like and I would vomit.
Then in August of 2013 my stomach was bleeding I was passing dark blood. I had to have emergency surgery. I really lucked out that there was a Doctor Antonio Castaneda in the room and overheard the doctors. He immediately said he knew the problem. He had worked in Houston Hospital where this was happening. Dr Castaneda is in Fort Worth, Texas. I spent 23 days in the hospital. He performed a reverse gastric sleeve surgery.

I found this info on the net.  You can call that hospital and ask for medical records dept. and ask them to send you a authorization to get your  history and physical and discharge summary, and your operative report.  Also you could ask the surgery dept or even medical records dept. who is doing that procedure now at that hospital.   Below is what i found. Non adjustable band Welcome, this site has been established to provide a support network for patients of Dr. Marcel Molina of Houston, Texas who performs Non Adjustable Gastric Banding surgery for the morbidly obese. Dr. Marcel Molina, a Houston surgeon, practicing at Spring Branch Medical Center in Houston, Texas, devised and performed the first Gastric Segmentation (Gastric Banding) procedure on March 31, 1980. Dr Molina can be reached at 713-468-5458. nonadjustableband.com/  I have three friends i used to work with who had their surgery done by Dr. Molina.  One of them had to have there band removed by scope.  She was losing to much.  Hope this info helps Zadie
