Yes, Vagisil, Monistat etc. Maybe even the prescription pill Diflucan?? Don't know. My mother in law uses vagigard on hers. I have used it too. I dont know how to do the search though. Sorry someone else might answer that for you.

Also don't use lotions under skin folds and in the naval because it holds moisture and will start one of these infections.

Are you talking about regular hand/body lotion, or the creams and lotions like the yeast infection/ jock itch stuff?

If so, what should we use then?

Don't use ordinary lotions in those areas. Yes use the medicated ones there. I can remember the first one I got in my naval was caused by rubbing lotion on my body and putting it in there.

I used to get these alot due to prior lap surgery.  Thankfully my surgeon didn't go in my belly button but above it this time because of my prior surgeries involving my belly button. That being said, what I used to do is lay on my back with a towel under me and fill my belly button with peroxide, let it bubble up, drain and repeat till it stops the bubbling.  Drain it again, blot well with a towel.  You can even take a clean q-tip and blot gently inside to get it dry.  Then take a little bit of lotrimin lotion, like the kind used for athletes foot, jock itch, etc.  Mix a little of that with a bit of cortaid and then lightly apply to your belly button.  Do this about 3 times per day till clear.  You should see improvement by tomorrow and it should be totally clear within about 3 or 4 days.    Hope this helps you.

You can also use some tea tree oil. It's herbal, and it works so good. You can get at any health food store and maybe even a CVS..Feel Better!! Shannon 302/203/155

Hi Judy, The same thing happened to me. I showed the pharmacist and he said to use a clotrimazole cream (antifungal cream). I got some at Walmart and it cleared it right up.

Yep...its yeast...not bacteria...you are getting a lot of advice here...Once you use the cream...spray...whateva!  The fungus will be cleared up...Clortimazole Cream...will work fine...but, once is cleared up....use an absorbant powder (i.e., Gold Bond powder) to keep the area dry and prevent reinfection.

The condition is NOT caused by the oral antibiotics you're taking, but by the folding of skin, the resultant moisture and body heat...the perferct incubator.   Its always a good idea to use a powder under folds of skin...take care.

Instead of powder, I use corn starch.  It's very finely milled and makes your skin dry and sort of slippery, as opposed to regular powders that get caked up when you sweat.  Sandy Beach Holly
